Page Layout
Page Layout allows you to select a page template for one or more pages of your site, or convert the current page to Preformatted. The current layout for the page your are editing is displayed at the top. For a description of Freeform, Static, and Preformatted pages see Page Types.
The second section of Page Layout is the standard Maxlet Select/Create interface. Here you can navigate the maxlet catalog template directory including any customized templates you may have. You can click Preview at any time to see how a particular template will look with your current page.
When previewing a Freeform template you have the option of viewing your current layout of objects (if you have one) or taking the layout which comes with the template.
If you wish you can customize a template immediately, giving you access to its properties (page templates are maxlets). The act of customizing will apply the new customized template to your current page.
If you choose not to customize, click Apply Template to update your page . Radio buttons on the Apply Template form allow you to choose to update other pages as well.
Site Layout vs. Page Layout
There are two major differences between these two modes of selecting a page template:
| 1) Interface: |
Site Layout uses the same user-interface presented during site creation. Page Layout uses the standard maxlet selection interface.
|
| 2) Changes: |
Site Layout will update any page fields that may be specified by the template. You can see the effects of this when you click Preview in Site Layout. Page Layout, on the other hand, will not modify any page fields. In addition, when using Page Layout with Freeform Templates, you can decide whether or not to use the template's layout or your current layout.
