Instead of celebrating St. Xritsos on his birthday (Christmas Day), their are only two villiages in Greece that still celebrate "St. Xristos" on the day of the Jesus baptisim (7th Jan) because that's when they believe someone is honoured with their name. One village is in Edessa and the other is in Roedes.

Whilst explaining to a young lady that their is a time difference between Greece and Australia and that when it is winter in one side of the world it is summer in the other (due to the fact of that the earth revolves around the sun) she firslty thought I was lying and then proceeded to expalain to me that it is impossible and I must be wrong when it is December in Greece it is July in Australia !!!

In Greece's northern capital Thessaloniki, two armed robbers went into a bank and stole 5 million drs, upon their exit, the two men got on their motorbike which decided to stall on them, despite the fact they passed police etc, one of the robbers was on the bike whilst the other pushed the bike towards their stupid escape!

The Skopjian community in Melbourne, Australia have two Macedonian Orthodox Churches names "St. Demitiros - Protector of Salonika". Funny hey, considering the fact that firstly Macedonian Orthodoxy has not be recognised by either the Christian Federation and secondly, St. Dimitrios was made a saint for the simple fact that he was a warrior who ensured that Slavs did not enter Thessaloniki.

That No.1.
Greece's leading singer Mr. Notis Sfakanakis hosted a concert in Thessaloniki not long ago. Two paid fans decided to get up and dance to Sfakanakis' music as this fustrated the singer he rudly suggested that his fans should sit down. When the two ladies didn't sit down Notis then stated "sit down now don't you understand or would you like me to say it Bulgarian"...
You will be pleased to know that the two ladies along with a crowd of mad fans left the concert.
