| During a survey of alleged abductee's in 1994, it was found that there was more witnesses that used their left side of the brain rather than their right. This tends to go against the general scientific opinions. It was thought that these witnesses were fabricating their incidents and participated in confabulation during regressive hypnotherapy. The reason for this was that such individuals faking their experience would more than likely be creative and have a good imagination. They would also have a good insight to the abduction phenomena due to probably reading the mass literature which is commonly available. Loss of memory, also known as Jamais-Vu’ is often faked as it is difficult to prove otherwise. Even though most hypnotherapists and psychotherapists believe that enhancing memory or to illicit the truth from a subject using hypnosis is utterly useless, the result of the survey found an obvious and debatable conclusion that most alleged abductee's tend to be right handed, thus use more of their left side of the brain. Apart from the survey there are several interesting fact. The information gathered from alleged abductee's is rather illusive and does not seem very impressive. Many such incidents seem to occur whilst in an altered state of consciousness, (similar to the Oz Factor). A vast majority of cases (about 96%) occur in two locations where there is the best chance of sensory deprivation :- 1. Whilst travelling from one place to another, walking or driving down a lonely county road or something similar. 2. Whilst in their beds or home, house etc. Sometimes alone, sometimes including their partners, family or close friends. The experiments that have been carried out seem to be getting us know-where with the abduction phenomena, as we may be dealing with a deep sub-conscious subjective event within the altered state of reality. A realm which exists yet cannot be reached using scientific methods. All in all, we are neither for or against. The abduction phenomena truly exists to many abductee's where the scientists are kind of.... on the outside looking in. At this time we can neither state it is a real incident as we are investigating events which are mostly hidden within the abductee's sub-conscious, however, we certainly cannot dismiss these remarkable accounts as there is a true phenomena interacting with these individuals in a unique way. It seem we need to find a better method of investigation, if one exists ? SUBJECTIVE COGNITION AND PERCEPTION : It seems that cognition can alter in us all. What we see might not be what it is. We all do this in our own subjective way. Experiments seem to show that there are differences between individuals in the way they handle the information at their disposal. These differences are usually referred to as ‘cognitive (sometimes intellectual) styles and they are linked with the habitual ways individuals have of dealing with information, whether it be visual or intellectual, about one’s self or one’s environment. WHAT DO SUBJECT DESCRIBE DURING TELEPATHY ? They claim that they may suddenly find a mental picture and strong feelings from the minds of others fleeting in and out of their consciousness, or even in some cases taken over as if momentarily and temporarily possessed in some way. They sometimes do not understand what is happening and interpret these impressions as coincidences etc. At other times their experience may be so vivid and unmistakably true that they will know something beyond the ordinary has taken place, even though they cannot explain it. They may experience physical sensations around the head area, such as a tingling of the scalp, a tickling sensation on their face, a feeling of pressure around the top of the head, or a sense of energy coming directly through their frontal lobe. These physical sensations will emanate from the portions of the brain which are aroused to new levels of consciousness. These physical sensations can be used as a signal that you are receiving information. Others describe a feeling of pulling in their stomach area, (usually women), and their hands or face flushing along with those that report having ‘Goose-Bumps’. NOTES : Science provides the nearest approximation we have to a value-free model of reality. If Telepathy truly does exist, not simply misobservation, then it must inevitably be ‘natural’ and fall within the scientific criteria or remit. We simply seek to add to scientific knowledge, not replace it with some belief system. SEP investigate Telepathy and would like to hear from people who have had experiences. |
