MALTESE FACTS !
A Maltese dog is a "long-term" committment Some are known to have lived as long as 20+ years ! They are VERY people oriented loving, loyal, intelligent They do travel well after getting over the initial car-sickness ! Think in terms of adding a "baby/toddler" to your household! generally they do NOT do well if left alone for long periods are locked in a cage ,or window-less room
imagine yourself in one of those ? I would NOT recommend you get one if you have a busy lifestyle or work all the time, it's simply NOT fair!
They need regular feeding/watering,grooming love & attention!

My dogs are my hobby,my love and passion !
I have been "owned" by Maltese's for 20 years! and currently own 15 of them ranging in age from almost 6 to 14 1/2 years
The Maltese is not guaranteed to be hypo-allergenic,
they will shed, but minimally, compared to other breeds therefore, less dander in the air Their soft, silky, white "hair", needs daily brushing and regular bathing
I recommend a bath every other
week please use only doggy shampoo Oatmeal,Tee-Tree,medicated, Tearless Nova Pearls Should you ever have a flea problem I've found that dishwashing "Joy" works fine, it's the "lemon" in it !
They are pampered pets indeed, the perfect companion dog for ladies of almost any age ! ( NO puppies for very young or elderly)
maltese2000@yahoo.com
Young PUPPIES are NOT recommended for small children as children can do some pretty awful things to a puppy besides accidentially falling on it and killing it! Puppies should be a minimum of 10-12 weeks old have received at least 2 vaccinations before taking them home or introducing them to other dogs or public places
.. .. ..
FOODS TO FEED
Always have fresh water available, change frequently I prefer to use stainless steel bowls you may want to take a bottle along if you take the doggie on a trip with you Feed a high quality or premium foods
puppy formula for puppies til 12- 18 month then feed maintenance til @ age 6 after 6 years feed "senior" formula
if overweight ,feed
a higher fiber diet, may need prescription 12-18% roughage FIT & TRIM is fine, but NOT for puppies For dogs with Food Allergies, feed Venison & Rice (Nature's Recipe)Fish & Sweet Potato or Duck if you can find it. Salmon or Tuna from can o.k., but need more vitamins or vegetables. My dogs love lettuce with a little sprinkle of olive oil! in lieu of baked treats!
Turkey & Barley,Lamb & Rice are great too! stay away form grocery brands, especially the ones starting out with "CORN or SOY"
as the first ingridient Dogs are carnivoures, not
herbevoures
I think it's o.k to give them left-over meats and veggies as long as you mix it in with their regular food I will feed mine cooked, ground fresh Turkey, chicken or Hamburger (drained & rinsed off fat) I also feed a good amount of veggies raw or cooked carrot sticks, broccoli, lettuce of any kind watermelon, apples, bananas, eggs limit the feeding of cheese ABSOLUTELY NO PORK or BACON or fatty left-overs can cause pancreatitis and will cost you a small fortune at the *ER* NO chic bones or grizzle (steak or chicken) fresh meat bones are O.K.cut into 1 inch pieces ,by butcher, and boiled inluding the marrow are GREAT ! Take it easy on milk bone treats it's like giving kids a lot of cookies or junk foods NO hotdogs or Bologna, milk NO..NO...NO "CHOCOLATE", POP CORN, PEANUTS or BIRDSEED a dog can choke to death on those, and choclolate is very deadly
Don't waste your money to clear up Tear-stain around the eyes! Just gently wash face every day with fresh warm water and then blot dry with toilet tissue NOTHING else! It's nothing but tears mixed with air, or allergies (seasonal) it will come and go.
VERY IMPORTANT NEVER..NEVER let your Maltese or any other critter be blown dry
in a cage! Groomers have lost many doggies to heart attacks and
HEAT STROKES because they forget the critter is in the cage
NEVER..NEVER let your Vet administer "Leptospirosis" to a maltese and take it very easy on administering Steroids/Prednisone for any kind of skin or fungus condition! or administer more than "one vaccine" at a time Rabies vaccines should always be given separate Rabies not until @ 1 year !!
It is best to schedule vaccine apointments in the MORNINGS
so that if you have a problem you can go back to the Vet and NOT the Emergency Clinic Always have on hand: Children's Benedryl liquid for allergic reactions ! NEVER give TYLENOL only baby aspirin or buffered aspirin in samll dosage as it can cause stomach bleeding; childrens Cough syrup o.k to give just need to scale down the dose and make sure contains NO ALCOHOL
For skin problems or fungus
give COLLOIDAL SILVER, orally or topically
you can get it in the Health Food store or make it yourself by buying a silver maker
search the net! Cost @ $ 17 for 2 oz make sure it's NOT more than 30 days old!! it loses strenght after 30 days
Colloidal Silver is reported to kill as many as 650 micro organisms many of which cause human disease it can be used on skin, oral, eyes, ears....etc.
Vet's hate for you to know about it and will claim that it makes the dogs
teeth black..... NOT TRUE ! Also try Oil of Oregano

leave your dog in the car especially not during the hot season NOT even when you leave the A/C running.... BECAUSE: over 90 degree you can't TRUST
your cars to keep running while idling...BATTERIES do die and so will the dog !
If you have an overheated dog do NOT dowse with cold water
as that will put the dog into shock but dowse with RUBBING ALCOHOL ONLY and turn on a high powered fan, blowing directly on the dog
Some of the Bloodlines in my line include:
Joann Chen's Dancer's, Windsong Master Showcase Rustwick's Dorbet & Zackly Right Simone's Christmas Angel,Villa Malta, La Laces Lorac Dream These are just a few *

..... ..... .......
by NOT supporting them !

Most puppies in pet-shops were bred by irresponsible "artless" backyard-breeders for the dollar
bred in filthy abominable places; most people don't realize, that the highest priced puppies in Pet-shops come actually from the "worst" places,
they also sell under-aged puppies (less than 10-12 weeks old)
BEWARE of KILLER PARVO VIRUS
Get a pup that is at least 10-12 weeks old, and
keep in mind, that they are NOT fully protected til @ 16 weeks ( 4 shots)
we agree !
maltese2000@yahoo.com
Lastly...PLEASE.. get your females spayed.. if you don't, you could
lose her..as I did my precious Katie! who wound up with a diseased uterus, never bred....when you find out that your dog is sick It will be TOO LATE !
