I receive many questions about Barbie. I thought I would add this page to my site so that we may learn more together.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Collector Edition and Limited Edition Barbie?
Collector Edition...These are produced in quantities of more than 35,000. These Barbies are designed for collectiong and displaying, and come in showcase packaging that includes a doll stand and a Certificate of Authenticity.
Limited Edition...Procuced in quantities limited to 35,000 or less worldwide, these dolls are limited to specific retailers and feature special fabrics and details that set them apart from other Barbie dolls. They are designed for collectiong and displaying, and come in showcase packagaing that includes a doll stand and a Certificate of Authenticity.
Will the value of the doll be potentially higher if I leave her in the box?
Consider keeping your dolls in their package to maintain their value. Some of the newer series are specially designed to display this way. Many seasoned collectors actually buy two dolls, one to keep in the box and the other to display.
My Barbie didn't come with panties, how come?
No, they are not missing. Only a Barbie wearing a short skirt comes with panties. Some collector dolls also wear underwear. All dolls without cloth panites have molded-on panties. A while back there was an issue of a Teacher Barbie that some came with panites and some not. The value of the un-pantied Barbies went up while the pantied Teacher Barbie went down.
Shouldn't collector dolls be packed with the shoes on?
Whenever possible, the dolls are packaged with the shoes on. As we all know, Barbie is one doll that is hard to keep the shoes on.
What is Barbie's full name?
Barbie's full name is "Barbie Millicent Roberts".
What was the first Limited Edition collector Barbie?
The first Limited Edition collector Barbie was introduced in 1986. Her name was Blue Rhapsody Barbie and she was the first Barbie made of porcelain.
