Reflexology is basically a 'foot massage'. Again this is based on the idea that lines of energy run through the body and these link all the organs to certain 'reflex' points in the feet. Pressure is applied by using the thumb and fingers. If there is no pain at a certain point, it means that there is no problem with the area connected to that point. If there is any discomfort or pain at a particular point then this suggests that there might be a problem within the body. By putting more pressure on this point, the energy is said to be stimulated, thus aid healing the area of pain.
Typical examples - A headache can be relieved by pressure being applied to the base of the big toe. A back pain can be relieve by pressure along the arch of the foot.
Overall reflexology is said to be a very relaxing treatment.
