CHOICES

each day I wake and look to the sky
I wonder when and why
but then I think from where it all came
remembering that He remains the same
the words are clear if only we look
the answers are found written in His book
each writer was given sweet inspiration
do not neglect it in our desperation
seek all knowledge and wisdom therein
then that is when we must begin

PRAYER

As I bow down to Thee I pray
I ask the same each and every day.
Great alms and praise to Thee I give
wanting to eternally live.
Still I wonder why the silence,
Lord, You know, I need more guidance.

THE DREAM

Last night as I slept I had a dream,
so real and vivid, with me now it seems.
First I stood in a crowd that raged
as a man stood before others, free but caged.
Questions were asked of Him in disguise,
His answers were honest, I thought with surprise.
We all move Him from place to place
and as a cock crowed, I saw a change in His face.
Each time He was asked just who He is,
the Son of man, He would exclaim, have I not told you this?
I knew this man had done no wrong;
somehow I was helpless, caught in the throng.
The burden He bore was so very great,
so help He was given as He walked to his fate,
but still it showed on his shoulderas all He bore.
I knew it wasn't the cross He carried,
but something much more
as He walked the path to the hill of the skull.
My eyes looked to heaven and thought how dull,
no stars or sunlight, no brightness He found,
hardly enough light to cast shadows on ground.
He freely lay himself on the tree,
His arms He outstrethched as He glanced at me.
I watched and heard each mallets's blow
as the spikes were driven and deeper they'd go.
His face was twisted in pain,
His feet placed together, it started again.
Now His body, nailed firmly in place,
He is risen up high, as if into space
as the weight of the cross was slid in the hole
I look and wonder where is His anger, where did it go?
I have watched as this man is wrongfully accused,
slapped and beaten and in every way abused.
Yet, He has no anger for those who raise him on high.
I listen to His words as I pass closer by
and I hear what seems as pure love,
as He raised His head of thorns and looks up above.
Not hatred or bitterness or wrath is said,
He spoke and slowly bowed His head.
His words played over and over as I think
and the guard offers him Vinegar to drink,
even in mercy something for pain is brought,
He refusees it all knowing, bearing this was His lot.
But those words I will never forget,
now when awake, I remember them yet.
His body tightened with all the pain
and I heard Him cry out again.
Then, the whole world seemed to grow so dark,
and I knew this day was to be some sort of mark.
As thunder from high could be heard,
the earth opened up, none spoke not a word.
This was a great vent in time
and His words still linger in my mind.
After all He suffered and had to endure,
His words of love, so real and so pure.
What did He say, what was it that was done?
His last cry was why have you forsaken your son?
These words are not the ones I recall best,
sit and listen as I tell you the rest.
His head turned up as to look to the sun,
and He prayed, forgive them for what they have done.

THE ANSWER

Where has the time gone?
Where is it all? What have we done?
We sit and watch the time,
waiting for it all to unwind.
This world we have, its great treasure,
all its wonders, all its pleasures.
The time we've shared with all those here,
friends of life, things we hold dear.
These we know will all soon pass,
as if seen through a clear glass.
What will we do when the time will come,
will I be ready when it's all done?
This question only one will know,
I ask Him when in prayer I go.
His answer, I keep deep in my mind,
"Keep watch my child for that time."

WALK HIS WAY

A spirit fell to me one day
saying, "Come,
let me show you the way."
Fought His way my life would go,
His love I sought but I did not know.
This same great spirit slow did guide,
with me each day it would abide.
Standing tall, I walked so proud,
'till my adversary would take me down
sending in the darts and snares
all that could tempt me to go there
as I walked the new path I southt
forgetting with blood I was bought.
The same spirit with me would stay,
but I must first walk His way.

My Picture

WHEN THE END IS HERE

When it is done and the end is here,
what do we have or hold dear?
We have our words we shared this day,
and memories of those touched along the way.
So look to the heart and see what's done,
how will you sleep and wake with morning sun?
Have we helped or hurt, touched or pushed?
If you could change this day would it be a wish?
Just bow your head and thank Him too
that He doesn't remember all we do
because we ask Him to forgive,
and through His son's blood we all can live.
Now wake and start this day anew.

WHEN THIS WORLD SHALL PASS

What is it will be done
on that great day of the Son?
When all this world from us shall pass
and we stand knowing this is last.
You and I, side by side,
thinking we have weathered the tide;
when we have been put to the test
do we try to do our best
or did we simply take the way of ease
when it's His will we should please?
Alone we face Him and His great love,
not just our Savior, now our judge.
So think now what will be done,
the day we face the Son.

OUR SAVIORS BIRTH

The night was clear, all heaven open,
a new time here on earth to begin,
a star alone to light a path
for those who sought to save Him from wrath.
Angels proclaimed this great birth
the Son of God and Savior on earth.
Was there a trumpet with this great news.
did it ring through out all pews?
The skies did they open up
to show us of our flowing cup?
Where is this one the angels say?
He lies in a barn beside animals in hay.
His birth, a humble one at best
but in His death we see the rest.
Who is this great and noble one?
Our Savior, Gods own son.

THE LESSON

I went to God in prayer today
and asked Him please to show the way.
I told him of the things I'd done;
of friends and family,
confidences I'd won.
All my great deeds and accomplishments,
how others look to me;
letter of praise they'd sent.
Oh how proud I was to tell Him this,
without a word of things I'd missed.
Not about the opportunities,
to speak of Him, no none of these;
the children I passed without a look,
the hungry I gave not a single look.
Vehemently I boasted with such pride,
and His work I took in stride.
I talked only of what I had done,
nothing of the Father or the Son.
As I knelt with my head held high,
it was as though I could hear Him sign.
He softly touched my very heart,
then said, "My child, this is where we must start.
Look not to do all these great things,
remember the carpenter, his hammer rings.
One nail at a time, great mansions builds."
The more He spoke, the lower I knelt,
'till finally, my face to the floor,
crying and asking, show me more.
Then with a sweet kiss of love,
He showed me my home up above,
how there will be no hunger there,
not pain or suffering anywhere.
I asked Him, "Why show me this?"
His words came, "This is what you will miss.
Yeah, but not you alone,
others, if my work goes undone."
I arose, no longer thinking of myself,
reaching higher to the top shelf
where a dusty book had long lain still,
His holy word, His great will.
Again a sign and I could hear
"My heart," He said, "draw thee near."

ALAS, A TRIP

preparing my worldy possessions ready now to go
a journey I must take, somewhere I longed for so
you see, this place I'm ready for, was built just for me
it is a mansion in a house made just to please
each li'l stone was laid with love, carefully put in place
the mortar was precious, bought you see, it's by His grace
still I prepare longing for to see
this special place I was told was waiting there for me
what? why do I pack so many things I own?
well to be honest, it's for others, when I have finally gone
there are those here who need them more, for there they have no use
and I won't be able to go in if this world I cannot lose
so I pack them each one with tender care and love
for I need them not when I join my Father up above

COURAGE FROM WITHIN

Alone I stand in this world of pain,
watching, waiting, what's to gain?
It is for me to choose my path
or risk the chance of another's wrath.
Standing here, standing still,
a path I must choose.
Asking, seeking from within what I must do.
One it seems would be easy, a paved road for me,
the other, it's less traveled, greater risk I see.
But seek the goal is what I've been taught,
look not to self but to Him for with a price I am bought.
Standing here, but not alone, a friend here now with me.
I am at your side, courage is what you need.
But think not of the risk involved, it is the reward ahead,
for did I not raise again after three days I was dead?
Now the path I choose, the one a rougher road.
As I travel now, I know it was not as I was told.
The bumps are not as big, each one smaller still.
For as I look not to myself, easier to do His will.
Courage, well not as much when yu finally start.
Follow the path, my friend, be led by your heart.

IF I HAD JUST LOOKED

Lord, I walked alone one day
looking my best to find my way,
and path to path I did trod
never once asking, "help me God."
The times were spent in much dispair
not knowing then 'cause You weren't there,
but I walked it alone or so I thought
until its end I finally got,
there I found You stood close by.
If I had just looked on high
this lesson I now hold close,
seek ye first Father, Son and Ghost
for walk not with your head hung down,
but look up and all around.
For the one whose lead we must follow
is held up high, not down below.

NO GREATER LOVE

A dream here I would live
if to all those without I could give
those who thirst let them drink
and feed the hungry this I think.
But the thirst I could not quench,
nor the hunger awakened by a pinch,
in reality it is not I
for their thirst and hunger will not pass by
lest the One who fed them all,
His word they seek, lest they fall.
There we find our own great peace,
no greater love than all of these.

MY OLD BIBLE

Though the cover is worn,
And the pages are torn,
And though places bear
traces of tears.
Yet more precious than gold,
Is this book worn and old,
That can shatter and scatter
my fears.
This old book is my guide,
Tis a friend by my side,
It will lighten and brighten my way,
And each promise I find soothes,
And gladdens the mind,
As I read it and heed it each day?
To this book I will cling,
Of it's worth I will sing,
Through great losses and crosses
be mine. For I cannot despair,
Though surrounded by care,
While possessing this blessing divine.

Somewhere along the line of development we discover what we really are, and then we make our real decision for which we are responsible. Make that decision primarily for yourself because you can never really live anyone else's life, not even your own child's.

Eleanor Roosevelt

PERFECT BEING

Who am I
I cried
And God said Me.

How can that be
I cried
And God said Be.

I am, I cried
And God said
Me too.

I AM Thee
And Thou art Me
Perfection.

LET THERE BE LIGHT

I am a child of the Sun
An heir of the most Perfect One,
I come to fulfill my Holy purpose
Soon I return to the Great Central Sun.

Fear and doubt and shame
I surrender in the I AM name.
I am one with God, complete and Whole.
God blesses my very soul.

God blesses me
With the Way to the Summit
Of the Truth of Being and the Life Victorious
That I am remembering.

In my remembering,
I share the outpouring of Love, Wisdom, and Power
From my heart overflowing.
I praise you now O Holy One
For at last I have found my place in the Sun.

ONE

O God, Lover of my soul,
Thou hast come and made me Whole
Christ in me has come Divine
My spirit now has merged with Thine.

Son of man and Son of God,
Over many snares I've trod
And now at last Christ Light anoints me
I am One and Whole with God.

WHEN I'M GONE

When my life has reached its very end,
Ånd I take that ƒinal breath;
I want to know I've left behind
Some "good" before my death.

I hope that in my ƒinal hour
In all honesty I can say;
That somewhere in my lifetime,
I have brightened someone's day.

That maybe I have brought a smile
To someone else's ƒace...
Ånd made one moment a little sweeter
while they dwelled here in this place.

Lord, please be my reminder
Ånd whisper softly in my ear,
To be a "giver", not a "taker",
In the years I have left here.

Give to me the strength I need
open up my mind, my soul,
That I might show sincere compassion
Ånd love to others before I go.

For if not a heart be touched by me,
Ånd not a smile was left behind,
Then the life that I am blessed with
will have been a waste of time.

With all my heart, I truly hope
To leave something here on earth...
That touched another, made them smile
And gave to my life, worth.

ANGELIC THOUGHT

If there is any kindness I can show, or any good
thing I can do to any fellow being, let me do it now,
and not deter or neglect it, as I shall not pass this
way again.

WAIT

Desperately, helplessly, longingly, I cried.
Quietly, patiently, lovingly God replied.
I pled and I wept for a clue to my fate,
And the Master so gently said, "Child, you must wait!"

"'Wait?, You say, wait!" my indignant reply,
Lord, I need answers, I need to know why!
Is your hand shortened? Or have you not heard?
By faith I have asked, and am claiming your Word."

"My future and all to which I relate
Hangs in the balance, and you tell me to wait?
I'm needing a 'yes,' a go-ahead sign,
Or even a 'no' to which I can resign."

"And Lord, you promised that if we believe
We need but to ask, and we shall receive.
And Lord, I've been asking, and this is my cry
I'm weary of asking! I need a reply!"

Then quietly, softly, I learned of my fate
As my Master replied once again, "You must wait."
So, I slumped in my chair, defeated and taut
and grumbled to God, "So, I'm waiting. . .for what?"

He seemed then to kneel and His eyes wept with mine,
And he tenderly said, "I could give you a sign.
I could shake the heavens, and darken the sun.
I could raise the dead, and cause mountains to run."

"All you seek, I could give, and pleased you would be.
You would have what you want--but, you wouldn't know me.
You'd not know the depth of my love for each saint,
You'd not know the power that I give to the faint."

"You'd not learn to see through the clouds of despair
You'd not learn to trust just by knowing I'm there;
You'd not know the joy of resting in me
when darkness and silence were all you could see."

"You'd never experience that fullness of love
As the peace of my Spirit descends like a dove;
You'd know that I give and I save ... (for a start),
But you'd not know the depth of the beat of my heart."

"The glow of my comfort late into the night.
The faith that I give when you walk without sight,
The depth that's beyond getting just what you asked
Of an infinite God, who makes what you have last."

"You'd never know, should your pain quickly flee,
what it means that My grace is sufficient for thee..
Yes, your dreams for your loved ones overnight would come true,
But, oh, the loss! If I lost what I'm doing in you!"

"So, be silent, my child, and in time you will see
that the greatest of gifts is to get to know me.
And though oft may my answers seem terribly late,
My wisest of answers is still but to wait."

AND STILL I SEEK

Lord, You made everything; You made it all,
So it's to You I kneel; on You I call.
You know the secrets of the sky and of the sea,
And I know You know, intimately, the secrets in me.

Sometimes I'm in such loneliness and despair,
I feel like no one'll ever care.
Even those who call themselves Your bride.
There is no to whom I may confide.

And still I seek after a friend who's loyal and true...
Someone who's just like You.
I may never have a real close friend,
Well, except of course, for You which art in heaven.

WAITING FOR LOVE

At first Adam was content,
With just him and the Lord.
But then Adam started to feel lonely,
So God made him a mate,
To be with him 'til death did them part.
Then Adam called her Eve,
And she also lived in his heart.

And now, which is many, many years more,
I am wholeheartedly serving the Lord.
But every night when I go to sleep,
I pray as tears flow down my cheek.
I say, "Lord, You know my every desire,
And my thoughts upon each and every hour."
Yet, all I can do is to pray,
And wait until I meet him someday.
