| God Sent An Angel |
We were returning from a trip into Kentucky delivering a vanload of clothing to the edge of the Appalation Mountains. And having enjoyed the project immensely were on the way back home through Indiana.
There had been some concern about the oil and we had checked it at the station near our destination. The oil looked as though blue water was mixed in it but the motor was running and we had decided to go on.
As we began traveling through the hills of southern Indiana, the van began to labor. We again were praying for the Lord's help to get us home.
The motor began to choke down and finally my husband drove off the side of the interstate #64 and came to a standstill. It was beginning to be dusk and light was failing fast. We prayed for guidance and for the van to start. We wanted to get home.
Soon it was too dark to see properly and we realized it was very dangerous to be parked in this area as perhaps we would be sideswiped or perhaps even something worse. I prayed for God to send an angel to help us!
Within a few minutes a huge Peterbuilt semi pulled in front of us and off the road. I wondered if it would be safe not knowing the kind of driver he might be. My husband talked to him for a little while and they decided for us to attempt to get the car farther along the route and he would follow us.
The car started up and chugged and limped along for a couple miles or so and then just locked up. (Later we were told it locked up four ways.) The truck driver advised us to get what belongings we could carry and he would take us to a truck stop motel just up the road.
I had never been in a semi, much less one with a full console. I was extremely impressed. The motel was farther ahead than he expected but nevertheless not out of his way.
He said that it was his anniversary weekend and that he had been asked to haul a load of light bulbs for an extra run and for some reason he had taken it anyway.
We were familiar with the motel and got his address. We got a room and called our son and his friend to come and get us. We would have time to sleep for 5 or 6 hours before they arrived.
I sent a thank-you note then my husband accidentally lost the address so I could not continue to send them a note on their anniversary. We called him our angel.
The address was at Rolla, Mo. But cannot recall any more. Was he real or a real angel?
