Nintendo's top developer, Shigeru Miyamoto, floored millions of gamers around the world with his Super Mario Bros. for the Famicom in 1985 and the Nintendo Entertainment System in 1986. Gone was the openended "highest score" criterion of previous titles, and in its place was a more concrete goal: "Complete" the game. Games had evolved from just-for-fun endurance tests to simple narratives with (in the best Socratic tradition) a beginning, middle, and end. Gamers had a reason to play beyond simple continued survival.

With Zelda, Miyamoto wanted to take the idea of a game "world" even further. In his own words, the intent of the original Zelda game (and every Zelda title since) was to give players a "miniature garden that they can put inside their drawer." His inspiration came from the fields, woods, and caves outside Kyoto that he had explored as a boy, and he has always tried to impart this sense of exploration and limitless wonder to players through his Zelda titles.

But even the longest journey begins with a single step - for Miyamoto, that first step was the Legend of Zelda.

Special thanks to Zelda fans around the world, Janice Ta, and viewers like you.

Masks
All-Night Mask:
You need a wallet that holds up to 500 rupees. Stop the thief (Sakon) on day one at 12:30 a.m. to 12:50 a.m. from robbing the old lady in North Clock Town. On the final day. the All-Night Mask will appear in the Curiosity Shop for 500 rupees. Use this mask to stay awake during Anju's Grandmother's stories.
Information in this section was contributed by VinceMacIsBack, Sct904, and Marco A. Chavez Flores.

Information in this section was contributed by Zachary Parker.

Bomb Mask:
To get the Bomb Mask you have to be Link. Go to North Clock Town around midnight. You will see a man near where the big tree with the heart piece is located. Talk to him he will say: that he is not doing anything suspicious. At exactly midnight in North Clock Town, an old lady carrying something will appear. The man will steal what the old lady was carrying and run around North Clock Town. Hit him with the sword. He will drop what he stole from the old lady and will run out of Clock Town. The lady will pick up her item. Talk to her and she will give you the Bomb Mask. You can blow up objects using this mask, just like a bomb, but you will loose one heart per blast.

If you Z-target, the sword will glow and when you slash, little magic shots will hit your opponent. Fierce Deity can only be used in Boss areas. The magic shots take up about 1 magic power. He cannot use any other items or wear any masks, but he can jump farther than usual.

You must fight all of the Bosses again, however this is made easier since you can go in the portal and teleport to the Bosses rooms. Do not go back in time now. Go to Clock Town and enter the clock at midnight on day three. When the battle with skull kid begins, play the Oath Of Order. The four guardians will appear and stop the moon from falling. You will then be able to get on the moon. When you get there, go to the tree to see kids in masks. Do not play with the kid in the Majora's Mask just yet.
