World Wrestling Federation Spokesman Shawn Michaels made a major announcement involving Mick Foley and Kurt Angle and Triple H battled for the No. 1 contender spot on RAW, live from Worcester, Mass.!
New Federation Champion The Rock came to the ring and immediately made it known that "all the games were over" because he had the title. He also made it known that the Faction's era had ended and that the era of The Rock had just begun. Vince, not being one to take this lying down, came out to confront The Great One.
Mr. McMahon came out and said that he realized many things last night. He realized why his wife, Linda McMahon, kept stabbing him in the back -- because she loved him and was begging for attention. And Vince loves her too. Vince also realized that Linda probably wanted another baby, and said he'd be more than willing! Before leaving for home, Mr. McMahon shook The Rock's hand, but the Brahma Bull had one more thing to add -- a Rock Bottom!
As The Rock left Vince lying in the ring, Shawn Michaels was spotted arriving in a limo!
Intercontinental Champion, Rikishi, came out to defend his title against Chris Benoit. The Crippler quickly went to work on Rikishi's injured arm but the mood changed very quickly, as Tazz ran out to the ring and hammered Rikishi with a chair!
Stephanie and DX greeted former Champion Triple H as he arrived in his limo, but the Game gave the trio the cold shoulder and just walked by. Road Dogg decided he'd talk to Hunter while Stephanie and X-Pac went out to the ring to take care of Chris Jericho.
In the ring, Y2J and X-Pac fought all over the ring in a very high-paced match-up. As X-Pac was about to deliver a Bronco Buster, Jericho slipped out of the ring and went after Stephanie. But the Road Dogg ran out to stop Y2J from approaching her! Back in the ring, Jericho took advantage, but X-Pac got the win after Stephanie distracted the referee. After the match, Road Dogg and X-Pac held Y2J and Stephanie slapped him and kicked him where it hurts!
The Godfather was seen partying with some very fine ladies at a huge party live at WWF New York in Times Square.
The European Title was on the line next as Eddie Guerrero took on Val Venis. As Trish tried to pull Val over a fallen Guerrero, Chyna ran over and threw her out of the ring! Then Eddie and "Mamacita" gave Val a double DDT! After the match ended in a disqualification, Chyna powerbombed Trish!
The coronation of the King of the Ring, Kurt Angle, began with Shawn Michaels coming out to address the crowd. Instead, he threw Angle's throne off the stage! He said that HBK had a little business to take care of -- he had a major announcement involving the No. 1 contender for the Federation Title! Immediately, Triple H came out to the ring and pointed out that he was never pinned to lose the title, so he should be the No. 1 contender.
HBK told the Game he was right, but the real No. 1 contender was to be named by the new Federation Commissioner, Mick Foley!
Foley came out and told Hunter that with Vince gone to be a "genetic jackhammer", he got to make the matches, and that no one would ever have to listen to a Triple H promo again! The Game got in Commissioner Foley's face and demanded to be named No. 1. Foley said that man would be the best man for the job.
Hearing that, King Angle entered demanding to know what the heck was going on. He then made his case to be the top contender to Commissioner Foley. Mick said Kurt looked goofy, but Angle and Triple H would battle in a No. 1 Contender Triple Treat match with The Rock. If either won, they won get a title shot on SmackDown! If Rock won, he wouldn't have to face either man.
In the first ever Over-the-Top, Off with the Top match, Jerry "The King" Lawler and the Kat took on Dean Malenko and Terri. Whenever one of the men went over the top rope, each lady had to lose an article of clothing. After each woman had been undressed to their bra and panties, The King threw Malenko over the top rope! As Terri removed her bra, Stevie Richards ran out to cover her up!
The Hardy Boyz, T & A, Kaientai, Too Cool, the Acolytes, D'Lo Brown and Perry Saturn and The Dudley Boyz all battled in a Tag Team Battle Royal contest to determine the No. 1 contenders for the Tag Team Title. Meanwhile, Commissioner Foley was making Edge and Christian comfortable, Mick let it be known that the Tag Champs would be facing Undertaker and Kane later!
In the ring, the final two teams remaining were the Acolytes and D'Lo Brown and Perry Saturn. Faarooq and Bradshaw made quick work of their opponents, throwing D'Lo over the top rope and securing the No. 1 contender spot!
In a non-title match, Edge and Christian faced Undertaker and Kane in a matched that they determined to be so unfair that there would be no five-second pose. The match was over quickly, as the American Bad Ass and the Big Red Machine chokeslammed both of their opponents and easily got the pin.
In the first main event ever booked by Commissioner Foley, Kurt Angle, Triple H and The Rock all faced each other in a Triple Threat match. Angle and Triple H teamed up on The Rock at first, and the new King almost got several near pinfalls! But the two did not get along for long, and the Game and the American Hero both started to battle each other. As Triple H was about to pin Angle, Chris Jericho ran out and knocked out the Game. The Rock nailed Triple H with a Rock Bottom. |
