Formed in the safety of the womb, first you in your mother,
in your womb my brothers, and me, then came the others.
you selflessly nourished and cared for us all,
gave a lifetime of days and nights, at our every call.
At times it must have been so hard, as you bore all our pain,
While we slept you prayed, did your work as we played,
never heard you complain.
You were there when I awoke, and chased off scary dreams,
heard all of my troubles,
counseled me through so many failed teenage schemes.
And as I became a man, you watched, proud as could be,
pleading with gods plan, you found a way, trusting Him,
and set me free.
Mom, in my absence, throughout the years,
Ive tried to share every joy, and also the tears,
Tried often in despair, finding ways to let you know,
thankful for that which mom and this son share,
all the ways youve loved me so.
In my life Ive noticed so many moms,
Ive watched my friends as they are with theirs,
there is nothing except your presence that Ive envied,
nothing Ive wanted, none other Ive ever known,
none who quite compares.
The love you have given, greatest of lifes care,
through you I have always had.
Your tears and mine, through my absence I know,
has oft broken your heart, made you so very sad,
But my sweet mother, I want you to know
That from the time I was a child,
as I have grown through the years,
Having felt your heart so passionately driven,
There is nothing I could ever have wanted in a mom,
That you havent always so freely given.
With the deepest love a heart could ever hold,
you and your lifes example, you have shared with me,
Ill never forget, it is so deep in my soul,
Always I will strive, for what Ive caught in you to be.
I am now and forever, your loving son,
Larry
