Goodbye
Phil Brown

As I woke up I looked around
and what a wondrous sight to see,
For there standing round my bed
was all my family.

There was Donald and David
and Rex and Phil,
And Larry and Patricia
amd Mark and Priscilla.

And standing there in the middle
of my strong sons and beautiful daughters,
Was the shining light and center of my life
the wondrous lady who is their mother.

I could not understand
what brought them all around,
But then who am I to complain
at the gathering of the Brown's.

There was someone else standing in the shadows
at the back of the crowded little room,
And I struggled to recognize this man
midst the dusky evening gloom.

As I looked in his face
tears came and I didn't care,
For suddenly I recognized
that was my Saviour standing there.

He walked forward and took my hand
and said " Son I've come to take you home",
Then sadness came into my heart
and I said "Lord, I can't leave them here alone".

Then He smiled and said
"My son your duty here is done
I will take your place and be their Father
your race on Earth is won"

As I take my Father's hand
and go forward into the Light,
I know that I can go joyfully now
for God the Father will see them thru the night.
