| What Is Christian Life Ministries? |

By Larry J. W. Brown
Christian Life Ministries (CLM) serves the Body of Christ with a desire to minister to the physical as well as spiritual needs of individuals, families and community. We have found that if we are able to aid families and individuals by helping them meet their basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter as well as loving, caring people to talk to and interact with, we are showing them the message of Christ first, then they are naturally open to hearing the message of Christ's love and salvation. "These things are more often caught than taught" James Dobson, Focus on the Family
FOCUS
All of CLM's efforts are toward the mission and eternal goal of bringing people to a true experience of Christ and His life-changing power! CLM takes an uncompromising stand against sin. We also take an uncompromising stand to love and minister to those who are caught by sin's destructive grip.
ACTION
Toward these ends, CLM has ministered directly to the Body by offering (1) Well-trained Christian Counselors in the form of Individual and Family Counseling, approximately 500 individual and family counseling units of delivery since 1995; (2) Christian Recovery Groups, over 300 counseling units of delivery since 1995 ; (3) Food shelf ministry, more than 800 bags of groceries to families and individuals within the 1997-1998 period. (4) Mentoring and Accountability training.
NETWORKING
CLM has also aided and interacted positively in the Spirit of Christ with other Christian ministries by providing food and manpower as well as other services. A few of those Ministries are:
Agape Ministries: which gathers resources in the form of food and clothing as well as manpower and sends them to ravaged and war-torn areas of the world. CLM was able to donate a computer to Agape to help in coordinating their ministry efforts. We also provided a team to help the ministry move to their new warehouse, we provided manpower in clean-up and ministry efforts in St. Peter, Minnesota after the area was storm-ravaged in early 1998.
Witnesses for Christ: CLM has provided over 30 deliveries totaling more than $2000 in value of bakery products to this ministry which cooks daily meals for needy neighborhood families and individuals in the Philips Neighborhood area of Minneapolis.
New Hope Center: CLM has provided over 15 deliveries of bakery, meat and dairy products to this ministry in 1998. They are a residential center dedicated to helping men recover from serious substance abuse backgrounds. They have from 30 to 45 men in residence at a time and are doing a substantial work to re-connect these men to the community as responsible and reformed citizens. Many also become spiritually reborn in the process.
Oneness Ministries:
Russian Medical Student: CLM supplied a personal computer to a Christian Medical Student in St. Petersburg Russia. Medical students in Russia compete for a place in medical school, most don't have financial resources available to buy such things as high tech equipment. CLM continues to communicate with and minister to this young lady's needs.
Mentoring / Accountability Groups: Accountability groups and mentoring programs are helping participants to be more accountable and better spiritual leaders in their families, churches and communities. We had success in startup and training of two long term and very productive men's groups, one in Anoka, Minnesota and one in St. Paul, which has given us the opportunity to see what works and what doesn't.
Since January, 1999, there is also a christian leadership group meeting regularly on Saturday mornings in Lake Elmo, Minnesota and a ladies accountability group that is meeting on Thursday nights in Cottage Grove. These two new groups are already enjoying good attendance and exciting life changing stories!
If you aren't currently involved in an accountability group, try one out. If it is done right, you'll like it and wonder how you ever did without it.
Bible teaching and fellowship: CLM, on several occasions, has sponsored Home Bible studies and hosted worship and fellowship gatherings since the ministry has begun in 1995.
CLM Counseling Ministry: A counseling service by qualified counselors is provided on a sliding scale donation basis for families, couples and individuals in crisis. Much of this is done in the form of group work.
Apostolic Bible Church: CLM is supported completely by donations and is working hand in hand with Pastor Mickey Friend, as a ministry attached to the exciting Apostolic Bible Church of St. Paul, Minnesota. We are continually enjoying a mutually beneficial relationship. |
