THIS PAGE IS ALL ABOUT THE BEAUTIFUL CITY I LIVE IN.
One of North America's Most Livable Cities (by Places Rated Almanac),
it has been described as a friendly, yet sophisticated city of contrasts, whose
diversity makes it difficult to characterize or categorize, and a unique place for residents,
vacationers and business people. People who live here are proud of their parks because
they do more than crown the city with emerald splendor. They make Cincinnati one of
the greenest cities in the country, offering something for everyone. The City Park
System has mini pocket parks in crowded downtown areas as well as a 1,500 acre forest,
an exotic conservatory and natural meadows, landscaped gardens, parkways, secluded
woodlands, and picnic areas, playgrounds, gazebos, lodges and pavilions. In fact, few
other urban park systems can match Cincinnati Parks' variety and completeness.
The City of Cincinnati is located amidst the gently rolling hills along the Ohio River. Greater
Cincinnati spreads from the southwestern corner of Ohio into northern Kentucky and
southeastern Indiana. The city has a population of approximately 364,040 residents and is
governed by a council/city manager form of government. In 1994, Cincinnati was rated #1 as
North America's "MOST LIVABLE' city and has established itself as a community that is rich
in industry, culture, sports, and education. Cincinnati is the home of several Fortune 500
corporations including the Procter and Gamble Company, Eagle-Picher, Cincinnati Milacron,
Chiquita Brands International, American Premier Underwriters, E.W. Scripps, Midland
Enterprises, Star Bank, Fifth Third Bank, Kroger, Federated Department Stores, American
Financial and Ohio Casualty. Cincinnati offers an outstanding variety of cultural activities
including the world famous Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Cincinnati Opera and Ballet
Companies and has more than 100 museums and galleries which enhance Cincinnati's
reputation as a cultural center. These include the Cincinnati Art Museum, the Contemporary
Arts Center, the Taft Museum, Museum Center and Krohn Conservatory. Cincinnati is also
home to Music Hall, Taft Theater, Aronoff Center for the Arts, and Riverbend on the Ohio
River which are locations of many live concerts. Major league sports fans flock to Riverfront
Stadium to see the Cincinnati Reds, baseballs first professional team, and the Bengals football
team as well as the Cyclones and Silverback teams (professional IHL hockey and soccer
teams which play at the Cincinnati Gardens). Cincinnati maintains excellence in education with
several universities which are easily accessible to residents including the University of
Cincinnati, Xavier University, College of Mt. St. Joseph, Cincinnati State College, Thomas
More, Miami University (Oxford), and Northern Kentucky University.
