KI/CHI DEVELOPMENT
Greetings. This is Issue #6 of LIGHT TIMES newsletter. Welcome. The purpose of LIGHT TIMES is to support the sharing of LIGHT -- for the sake of EARTH. This is a participatory newsletter for LIGHT-oriented people of all ages and stages in life.
The focus of this newsletter is grounding that LIGHT is simple.
A special welcome goes out to everyone new to the idea of LIGHT and/or the LIGHT TIMES newsletters. EARTH needs us all!

This Issue #6 expands on the subject of ki and why ki development is important.
Ki is a form of energy. It is our vital internal energy.
The source of ki is the universe. It is therefore an energy of infinite quanitity.
Breathe
That's big stuff. So ... how can we relate to ki?
Ki is readily available to each one of us all the time. After all, ki is what pumps our blood, ki is what beats our hearts, and ki is what keeps the planets in orbit. This tells us two things: That ki is very big stuff and that ki is here with us in every moment.
LIGHT is a special kind of energy. Ki is another special kind of energy. Ki is very practical for those of us who live in today's world.
Why?
Focusing on ki provides us with a wonderful opportunity. This opportunity includes increased coping ability, increased wellness, increased functionality (freedom from addictions), emotional stability, increased inner strength, and overall tone and health.
Breathe
Negative energy cycles, dysfunctionality, and addictions are caused by a low level of ki. For those of us who are interested in the subject of recovery, focusing on ki is an efficient way to access functional living. A ki focus can be added to any already-existing recovery program. The addition of a ki focus will increase the effectiveness of the recovery process.
Why?
Issue #3 reminds us that the focus of the LIGHT TIMES newsletters is an internal energy focus. This is very important to remember. Many of us living on EARTH today have been strongly encouraged [ conditioned? ] to live our lives with an external focus ( to focus our attention outside ourselves almost all the time ). An overly external focus creates imbalances and thereby lowers the level of ki. The lower the ki goes, the more dysfunctionality shows up -- in the forms of negative energy cycles and addictions.
The more we bring our focus back inside ourselves -- thereby nurturing and nourishing our inner core, our essence -- the more balanced we become. Ki development and the focalizing of LIGHT are incredibly efficient and effective ways to do just that. The result is the restoring of the internal/external energy balance in our lives.

What does ki feel like?
Before we explore what ki feels like, though, it is important to state now that ki is common in the world, even though it hasn't been spoken of much. Ki is common in the world. The purpose here is to bring it into an everyday awareness. This is because it is so very practical ... and so everyday.
Breathe
So ... what does ki feel like?
To get a taste of what ki feels like, three examples follow:
(1) Remember what it feels like to swing and/or to be on a carnival ride? The excitement, the laughter, the dizziness, and sometimes the nausea! Swinging on a playground or backyard swing and carnival rides tend to create an upward energy feeling for the person. This feeling is ki.
(2) In the practice of Tai Chi, there is the movement of "holding the [ energy ] ball." The feeling the hands experience during that movement is associated with ki.
(3) In Reiki and the laying on of hands, there is a tingling sensation most concentrated in the hands. This, too, is ki.
Breathe
To directly experience the feeling of ki now and at anytime, here are several variations of a ki raising exercise.
Ki Raising Exercise #1
Consider receiving a Reiki Level 1 Attunement. For those of you who haven't yet experienced a Reiki attunement, Reiki attunements reallign our bodies in such a way that they can handle a higher level of ki flow. A Reiki attunement is perhaps the quickest and most permanent way for us to increase our ki level.
[If you decide to get an attunement, I recommend that you use discernment in choosing who will share the attunement with you. The subject of discernment is not spoken of enough in our world. I believe it is important for us all to use discernment in our everyday lives. This is because there are many people we share energy with on a daily or weekly basis. Honoring our and each other's energy is of utmost importance. Yes, UTMOST IMPORTANCE. So ... consider using discernment in our everyday lives.]
Ki Raising Exercise #2
1. Intention. State that your intention is to raise your level of ki.
2. Breathe.
3. Relax.
4. Pay attention.
5. If you feel drawn towards movement go ahead and move as you like.
6. Breathe.
7. Relax.
Ki Raising Exercise #3
1. Intention. State that your intention is to raise your level of ki.
2. Breathe.
3. Relax.
4. Lay down on your back.
5. Flatten your back -- that is, do a pelvic tilt.
6. Relax and breathe into your back.
7. There are ki reservoirs in your body. Two of these are the one in your lower abdomen and the one in your lower back. You can relax and breathe into each or both of these.
Ki Raising Exercise #4
1. Intention. State that your intention is to raise your level of ki.
2. What do you like to do? ( Excludes addictions. )
3. Do it. It could be any activity or activities that support ( nurture and nourish ) your inner core, your essence. Examples include rest, food, exercise, religious or spiritual practice, reading, and writing. Many more examples abound.
4. Breathe.
5. Notice how you are feeling.
Ki Raising Exercise #5
1. Intention. State that your intention is to raise your level of ki.
2. Inhale deeply.
3. Exhale slowly.
Ki Raising Exercise #6
The following is written by The Lightworker Center in Hawaii. It can be found on their website http://www.ilhawaii.net/~light/lighthm.html
This exercise is adapted from Huna:
Request the body to produce mana. Mana is the Hawaiian equivalent of Chi or life force found in other teachings. Mana can only be produced by the body because the body is a physical manifestation through which all the elements of matter are accessible. In consciously choosing to breath four deep breaths, rather than leaving your breathing to the automatic reflexes of the body, you are calling the body's attention. Assume that your body knows exactly what mana means and how to produce it.
Note: It is normal to experience dizziness and/or nausea while focusing on our ki. Why? Ki levels have the tendency to reach plateaus for many of us. Dizziness and/or nausea is a sign that the ki is going up. ( By the way, this is also what motion sickness is. ) It is a normal part of the process for those people who experience it. Remembering to breathe and monitor and pace ourselves is most important.
Breathe
Ki Raising Exercises #2 and #3 are a beginning step for those people who are new to the idea of ki. Once we are familiar with the feeling of ki, then we can play with it even more.
Ki Raising Exercises #4 and #5 are examples of a more advanced step. More examples of advanced ways to increase the level of ki include:
Food and water raise ki.
Rest raises ki.
Meditation raises ki.
Ascension techniques raise ki.
Play raises ki.
Exercise raises ki.
Martial arts ( budo ) raise ki.
Swinging on a playground or backyard swing raises ki.
Spinning ( clockwise and/or counterclockwise ) raises ki.
Riding in an elevator raises ki.
Carnival rides raise ki.
Conscious use of words raises ki.
Ki Raising Exercise #1 ... Reiki Level I Attunement ... is a subject in itself. Reiki is precious. Reiki is simple. I recommend that everyone in all age groups consider Reiki I. The energy and applications of Reiki help us to remember who we are. I'll expand on the subject of Reiki later. For now, I invite you to see if you resonate with the idea of Reiki. I also invite you to view Kay's website on Reiki ...

Why is ki raising ( ki development ) important for a LIGHT orientation? Why is it being emphasized in the LIGHT TIMES newsletters?
Answer: A body whose channels can hold more ki can hold more LIGHT.
LIGHT is needed by EARTH. Those of us who can hold more ki and LIGHT, assist EARTH ( as well as ourselves and each other ) in a huge way. The more ki and LIGHT, the better.
Breathe
Issue #4 says much about energy flow, open space, and energy pathways. The main context of that conversation revolves around the subject of feelings and emotions. The conversation in this Issue #6 revolves around the subject of ki and ki development. The two subjects are not mutually exclusive, though. There exists much overlap.
Let's place our focus now on energy pathways and energy flow. Our bodies are comprised of energy pathways. Energy flows in energy pathways. That's what energy pathways are for. They are designed to handle energy flow -- an incredible amount of energy flow.
LIGHT and ki are forms of energy. The energy pathways were designed to hold LIGHT and ki, for example. Ki development increases the amount of ki that is flowing through these pathways. The more energy flow a person can hold/handle/channel ( different words for the same thing ), the healthier and more balanced the person is.
Breathe
Taking this a step further: Add LIGHT intention. LIGHT intention is so important, because of EARTH. LIGHT is an amazingly powerful and effective solution for EARTH.
LIGHT is energy. The energy pathways can handle the flow of LIGHT ( as well as the flow of ki ). LIGHT intention -- e.g., "My intention is to increase my LIGHT flow" -- increases the flow of LIGHT within and around our energy pathways. This LIGHT is the same LIGHT that EARTH needs so very much of now, because of the kind of energy it is. We can each contribute to this Planet the most by increasing our LIGHT and ki flow. LIGHT and ki contribute to us and EARTH because of the kind of energies they are -- deeply nurturing and nourishing energies. They support our inner core, our essence. That is actually the whole point of life. Yes, really. Try it for yourself, if you wish, and see for yourself.
