KAPAMPANGAN MADE EASY
By Ernesto C. Turla

Good afternoon, class! Hope you have been having a nice day!

Today, we're going to study the merged pronouns that contain pronouns in the
objective case, second person.

Let's start with the second person, singular. I'm sure you already know what
the second person denotes. Yes, it denotes the one spoken to, the one you're
talking with.

Now, let's take a look at these:
1. daca - (kita) I-you
2. daca - (ka namin) We(2)-you
3. daca - (ka nila) They-you
4. naca - (ka niya) He-you

Let's use them in sentences:

1. daca - (kita) I-you
a. Caluguran daca. - (Minamahal kita) I love you.
b. Iquit daca. - (Nakita kita) I saw you.
c. Penaya raca. - (Hinintay kita) I waited for you.
d. Licuan daca. - (Iniwan kita) I left you.
e. Uman daca. - (Hahalikan kita) I will kiss you.

2. daca - (ka namin) We(2)-you
a. Caluguran daca. (Minamahal ka namin) We(2) love you.
b. Iquit daca. (Nakita ka namin) We(2) saw you.
c. Penaya raca. (Hinintay ka namin) We(2) saw you.
d. Licuan daca. (Iniwan ka namin) We(2) left you.
e. Uman daca. (Hahalikan ka namin) We(2) will kiss you.

3. daca - (ka nila) they-you
a. Caluguran caca. (Minamahal ka nila) They love you.
b. Iquit daca. (Nakita ka nila) They saw you.
c. Penaya raca. (Hinintay ka nila) They waited for you.
d. Licuan daca. (Iniwan ka nila) They left you.
e. Uman daca. (Hahalikan ka nila) They will kiss you.

4. naca - (ka niya) I/she/it-you
a. Caluguran naca. (Minamahal ka niya) He loves you.
b. Iquit naca. (Nakita ka niya) He saw you.
c. Penaya naca. (Hinintay ka niya) He waited for you.
d. Licuan naca. (Iniwan ka niya) He left you.
e. Uman naca. (Hahalikan ka niya) He will kiss you.

As you may have noticed, "daca" is used for "I-you", for "We(2)-you"
and for "they-you". "Naca", on the other hand, is used for "he-you", "she-you"
and "it-you".
So, "Caluguran daca", for example, could mean "I love you", "We love you"
or "They love you." The listener would, of course, know which of the three
possible meanings is being expressed by referring to previous quotations
where you might find an antecedent. Of course, if it is your own sweetheart
or the gentleman courting who says, "Caluguran daca", very likely, it would
translate to "I love you.", instead of "They love you."

Now, like they say the ball is on you. Practice using these merged pronouns that
you have just learned. Try using other verbs (transitive verbs only, of course) and
adding adjectives, adverbs and prepositional phrase to such sentences you have
constructed. It's the way to learn the language - and any language for that matter.
Go to the main page of this website where you will find a glossary containing a
lot of common Kapampangan words.

In the next lesson, we will study the merged pronouns containing pronouns
in the objective case, first person.

See you again tomorrow, and enjoy the rest of the day!
