| KAPAMPANGAN MADE EASY |
| BY ERNIE C. TURLA |
PATTERN: Subject - Object (in which the object is the pronoun "them")
1. cula - (ko sila) I-them
2. mula - (mo sila) You-them
3. yula - (ninyo sila) You(pl)-them (Note: pl means plural number)
4. tala - (natin sila) We(1)-them
5. mila - (namin sila) We(2)-them
6. tala (pronounced tah-la) - (natin sila) We(3)-them
Now, like how we did so in the previous lesson, let's use each of them in sentences. Likewise, let's just use the same sentences as before, and changing only the pronouns used so that you would see and recognize the projected pattern more clearly. This is what we'd call substitution.
1. Cula (Ko sila) I-them
a.) Caluguran cula - (Minamahal ko sila) I love them.
b.) Iquit cula - (Nakita ko sila) I saw them.
c.) Penaya cula - (Hinintay ko sila) I waited for them.
d.) Licuan cula - (Iniwan ko sila) I left them.
e.) Uman cula - (Hahalikan ko sila) I will kiss them.
2. Mula - (Mo sila) You-them
a.) Caluguran mula. - (Minamahal mo sila) You love them.
b.) Iquit mula. - (Nakita mo sila) You saw them.
c.) Penaya mula. - (Hinintay mo sila) You waited for them.
d.) Licuan mula. - (Iniwan mo sila) You left them.
e.) Uman mula. - You will kiss them (future). Kiss them (imperative).
3. Yula - (Ninyo sila) You(pl)-them
a.) Caluguran yula. - (Minamahal ninyo sila) You (pl) love them.
b.) Iquit yula. - (Nakita ninyo sila) You (pl) saw them.
c.) Penaya yula - (Hinintay ninyo sila) You (pl) waited for them.
d.) Licuan yula - (Iniwan ninyo sila) You (pl) left them.
e.) Uman yula - You (pl) will kiss them (future). Kiss them (imp.)
4. Tala - (Natin sila) We(1)-them
a.) Caluguran tala. - (Minamahal natin sila) We(1) love them.
b.) Iquit tala. - (Nakita natin sila) We(1) saw them.
c.) Penaya tala. - (Hinintay natin sila) We(1) waited for them.
d.) Licuan tala. - (Iniwan natin sila) We(1) left them.
e.) Uman tala. - (future) We will kiss them. (imperative) Kiss them.
5. Mila - (Namin sila) We(2)-them
a.) Caluguran mila. - (Minamahal namin sila) We(2) love them.
b.) Iquit mila. - (Nakita namin sila) We(2) saw them.
c.) Penaya mila. - (Hinintay namin sila) We(2) waited for them.
d.) Licuan mila. - (Iniwan namin sila) We(2) left them.
e.) Uman mila. - (Hahalikan namin sila) We(2) will kiss them.
6. Tala (pronounced tah-la) - (Natin sila) We(2)
a.) Caluguran tala. - (Minamahal natin sila) We(2) love them.
b.) Iquit tala. - (Nakita natin sila) We(2) saw them.
c.) Penaya tala. - (Hinintay natin sila) We(2) waited for them.
d.) Licuan tala. - (Iniwan natin sila) We(2) left them.
e.) Uman tala. - We will kiss them. Let us kiss them.
Now let's add antecedents and modifiers to some of the sentences above.
1. Cula - (Ko sila) I-them
a.) Caluguran cula reng capatad cu. - (Minamahal ko ang mga kapatid ko) I love my brothers and sisters. (Note: In sentences where the antecedents of pronouns are included, "co" may also be used instead of "cula". Thus, you can say: "Caluguran co reng capatad cu." But you should never just say, "Caluguran co", as that would be regarded as incomplete.)
b.) Iquit cula (or co) ri Fe at deng capatad na. - (Nakita ko sina Fe at ang mga kapatid niya) I saw Fe and her brothers and sisters.
c.) Penaya co (or cula) reng taung magtindang gatas damulag. - (Hinintay ko ang mga taong nagtitindang gatas kalabaw.) I waited for the
people selling carabao milk.
d.) Licuan co (or cula) ri Ima cu que bale. - (Iniwan ko sina Nanay ko sa bahay) I left my Mommy (& others) at home.
e.) Uman co (or cula) reng malagung babai queni. - (Hahalikan ko ang mga magagandang babae dito) I will kiss the pretty girls here.
2. Mula - (Mo sila) You-them
a.) Caluguran mula reng pusa mo? - (Minamahal mo ba ang mga pusa mo?) Do you love your cats? (Note: You may also use "mo" instead of "mula". Thus, you can say, "Caluguran mo reng pusa mo?". Like in the use of "co", "yo" and "to", antecedents are needed to make complete thoughts.)
b.) Iquit mo (or mula) reng paintunan mu napon? - (Nakita mo ba ang hinahanap mo kahapon?) Did you see what you were looking for yesterday? c.) Penaya mo (or mula) pamu reng caclasi mo? - (Hinintay mo pa lang ba ang mga kaklasi mo?) Did you have to wait first for your classmates?
d.) Licuan mo (or mula) pala reng itic a babanten mu! - (Iniwan mo pala ang mga itik na binabantay mo!) Oh, so you left the ducks you were watching over!
e.) Uman mo (or mula) gamat deng matua. - You will kiss the hands of the elders (future). You kiss the hands of the elders (imperative).
3. Yula - (Ninyo sila) You(pl)-them
a.) Caluguran yula siempre reng anac yu, ale? (Minamahal ninyo siempre ang mga anak ninyo, di ba?) Of course, you love your children, don't you? (Note: You may also use "yo" in lieu of "yula"; they just mean the same. So you can also say, "Caluguran yo siempre reng anac yu, ale?"
b.) Iquit yo (or yula) reng cabayo? (Nakita ba ninyo ang mga kabayo?) Have you seen the horses?
c.) Penaya yo (or yula) pa sana! (Hinintay pa lang sana ninyo sila!) You should have waited for them first!
d.) Licuan yo (or yula) reng sapatus yu. - (Iniwan ninyo ang mga sapatos ninyo) You left your shoes.
e.) Uman yo (or yula) reng anac. You will kiss the children. Kiss the children.
4. Tala - (Natin sila) We(1)-them
a.) Caluguran tala casi, eh. (Mahal natin kasi sila, eh) It's because we love them, that's why.
b.) Iquit tala nandin pamu. (Nakita natin kanina pa lang) We(1) saw them just a while ago. (Note: We can also use "to" instead of "tala": "Iquit to pamu nandin.")
c.) Ot penaya to (or tala) pa, neh! (Bakit pa natin hinintayin sila, ano?)But why did we still wait for them?
d.) Licuan to (or tala) queni napun, at ngeni atyu la pa. (Iniwan natin sila dito kahapon, at ngayon nadidito pa sila.) We left them here yesterday, and now they are still here.
e.) Uman to (or tala) reng anac da. - We will kiss their children.
We are now through studying merged pronouns which contain pronouns in the objective case, third person.
In the next lesson we will deal with the merged pronouns containing pronouns that are in the objective case, second person.
