| KAPAMPANGAN IS EASY AS PIE |
 |
| by Ernie C. Turla |
I hope you're finding the lessons quite a cinch.
Using the "pattern method" which we have been
applying is really a sure-fire formula for learning.
Our next patterns are:
a.) Verb - Subject - Object
b.) Verb - Subject - Verb
Study the following sentences:
Atin cang clase? - (May clasi ca ba?) Do you hve a class?
Atin cang singseng? - (May singsing ca ba?) Do you have a ring?
Bisa cang atbo? - (Gusto mo bang tubo?) Do you want sugar cane?
Bisa cang mansanas? - (Gusto mo bang mansanas?) Do you want some apples?
Now, make sentences similar to the above - questions that
start with "Atin cang" and "Bisa cang". Remember, you need a
other nouns to replace the ones in the given samples.
Now change "cang" to "yang", and then translate what you have
written. Now finally, change it to "lang" and then translate. Do
you see that by changing the pronoun each time while following
the same pattern, you are able to express a a different thought?
Now change the question into a statement and at the same time
change "cang" to "cung", and then translate. Now, change it
to "caming" and translate.
For the second part of this lesson, study the following:
Bisa cang minom? (Gusto mo bang uminom?) Do you want to drink?
Bisa cang mangan? (Gusto mo bang kumain?) Do you want to eat?
Bisa cang magcanta? (Gusto mo bang magcanta?) Do you want to sing?
Bisa cang saque? (Gusto mo bang sumakay?) Do you want to ride?
Now make questions similar the ones above by just changing the
verb and then translate.
Change "cang" to "yang" and then translate. Change it to "lang"
and then translate.
Now, change the question to a statement,
and change "cang" to "cung". Now, translate. Change it to "caming"
and translate. Do some more of these exercises by creating your
own sentences. By now, I'm sure you are really getting the hang of the
language and pretty soon you will be like the native speaker.
Remember, like in everything else, all you need is practice. Like
how the saying goes, "practice makes perfect".
