| KAPAMPANGAN IS EASY AS PIE! |
 |
| BY ERNIE C. TURLA |
What we will take up today is the
noun-adjective/adjective-noun pattern.
Study the following samples:
ing bale maragul - (ang bahay na malaki)
the big house
ing sualang maina - (ang siwalang mahina)
the soft voice
ing taung matas - (ang taong mataas)
the tall person
ing pusang malinis - (ang pusang malinis)
the clean cat
ing asung matapang - (ang asong matapang))
the brave dog
ing babaing masipag - (ang babaeng masipag)
the hardworking woman
ang lalaquing malacas - (ang lalaking malakas)
the strong man
ing tren a mabilis - (ang tren na mabilis)
the fast train
ing buac a macaba - (ang buhok na mahaba)
the long hair
ing dalan a bayu - (ang daan na bago)
the new road
ing ulam a maniaman - (ang ulam na masarap)
the delicious viand
ing ilug a malalam - (ang ilog na malalim)
the deep river
Ing bulan a masala - (ang buwan na maliwanag)
the bright moon
Ing quildap a macatacut - (ang kidlat na nakakatakot)
The scary lightning
Ing batwin a quiquislap - (ang bituin na kumikislap)
the twinkling star
ing pisamban a matua - (ang simbahan na matanda)
the old church
ing librung luma - (ang aklat na luma)
the old book
ing sucle malati - (ang suklay na maliit)
the small comb
ing angin a marimla - (ang hangin na malamig)
the cold wind
Now, you probably notice that at times we use
the "ng" affixed at the end of the word, and
at some other times, we use "a". This all depends
upon the ending of the word. The rule is, if it
ends with a vowel, use "ng", and when it ends
with a consonant, use "a". Very easy, isn't it?
Now study the next pattern. It is just more or
less a reverse of the pattern you have just
learned.
ing maragul a bale - (ang malaking bahay)
the big house
ing mainang suala - (ang mahinang siwala)
the soft voice
By following these patterns, try to do it with
the rest of phrases above.
Next, create other phrases similar to these. Use
the dictionary if you may.
Using the expressions you have learned in the
previous lessons, do you think you can create
sentences out of these phrases?
Once you think you've learned this pattern,
proceed to the next lesson.
