LESSON 6:
PATTERN: Noun + posessive pronoun

Let's study these samples:
Ing pusa mu - (Ang pusa mo) Your cat
Ing asu mu - (Ang aso mo) Your dog

Following these patterns, try to create
other phrases just by changing the noun.
Refer to the names of animals in a previous
lesson. Spend at least 10 minutes on this.

Now, let's study these:
Ing pusa cu - (Ang pusa ko) My cat
Ing asu cu - (Ang aso ko) My dog

Ing pusa na - (Ang pusa niya) His/Her cat
Ing asu na - (Ang aso niya) His/Her dog

Do the same thing here, and translate.
Spend at least 10 minutes.

Now, let's study these:
Ing pusa tamu - (Ang pusa natin) Our cat
Ing pusa mi - (Ang pusa namin) Our cat
Ing pusa ra - (Ang pusa nila) Their cat

Do the same thing here, and translate.
Spend at least 20 minutes of practice

Now, let's study these phrases that have
antecedents:

Ing pusa nang Susan - (Ang pusa ni Susan)
The cat of Susan, or, simply, Susan's cat

Ing asu nang Mario - (Ang aso ni Mario)
The dog of Mario, or simply, Mario's dog

Ing pusa dari Daisy at Ana - (Ang pusa nina
Daisy at Ana.) The cat of Daisy and Ana.

Ing asu dari Jose at Maria - (Ang aso nina
Jose at Maria) The dog of Jose and Maria

Try changing the nouns to other nouns that
you already know also, and translate. Be
careful in the use of the possessive pronouns,
especially with regard to number. For example,
"na", as you will notice, is singular, and
its plural counterpart is "ra" (for vowel) or
"da" (for consonant), depending upon what the
last letter of the preceding word is.
Take more time to practice, and once you have
learned it, let's go to an extension part of the
lesson.
For this you have to study the following patterns:

Ing pusa nang Susan malinis ya. - (Ang pusa ni
Susan ay malinis.) Susan's cat is clean.
Ing asu nang Pedro matuling ya. - (Ang aso ni
Pedro ay itim) Pedro's dog is black.
Ing bale nang Mr. Reyes matas ya. - (Ang bahay
ni Mr. Reyes ay mataas.) The house of Mr. Reyes is high.
Ing cabayu nang Jose mabilis ya. - ang kabayo
ni Jose ay mabilis.) Jose's horse is fast.
Ing anac nang Susan malagu ya. (Ang anak ni
Susan ay maganda.) Susan's daughter is pretty.

You will notice that what is added in every sentence
follows a pattern of expression already studied in a
previous lesson. In other words, this is a merger
of two lessons learned. Using the common pattern
above, test yourself by completing the following:

1. Ing babi nang Maria....
2. Ing baru nang Rosa....
3. Ing mansanas nang Lourdes....
4. Ing caluguran nang Norma....
5. Ing asawa nang Pablo....
6. Ing mestra nang Lilia....
7. Ing pialungan nang Mario....
8. Ing lapis nang Letty....
9......malagu ya.
10.....matsura ya.
11.....malati ya.
12.....maragul ya.
13.....mabayat ya.
14.....matapang ya.
15.....maniaman ya.
16.....macaba ya.
17.....mayaga ya.
18.....biasa ya.
