Hank Narmour Memorial - Hill Country Post #64
December Newsletter Volume 20 #4

Commanders Notes
By Dan Thompson

At the meeting held November 10th District Commander W.L.. Fleming attended to discuss options for the post regarding its need to continue. District will get involved to help us stay active. Motion made and carried to have the District help the post. We will continue to do whatever is needed to stay active. Within the next couple of months we should have some idea if attempts by District will work or not. What was discussed has been tried by us already with little success. The realization that we may have to close is still there. The ladies Auxiliary are also struggling with little success. The ladies will continue bingo support through November and December at which time the post will have to take over starting January 2010. This will be discussed at the December meeting.

Hope the holidays will bring all happiness and good health.

I have contacted the Board Members regarding the yearly Christmas Party. The Adjutant and I both feel that hosting a Christmas Party at this late date is questionable. Our 2nd Vice Commander resigned, he normally would manage and put this affair together. Rather than try and get it organized at this late date we have decided to contribute the funds normally attributed to this event to the Salvation Army and the Women's Shelter.

Chaplains Notes
By Frank Murray

PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING - Most Gracious GOD , by whose appointment the seasons come and go, and who makes the fruits of the earth for the needs of men, we offer you our thanksgiving that according to your promise, seed time and harvest have not failed.  We give you most humble and hearty thanks for your servants who came across wintry seas , at peril of life in order to establish a free nation with fidelity to justice , freedom and democracy. Keep our country in your care and guide the Nation according to your will.  Yours shall be the glory and the praise and the thanksgiving from generation to generation, Amen.

Auxiliary Notes
By Dee Thompson

This year has been hard for all with just being tired, aging and illness. As you know the survival of the unit for this year was really unknown. As mid year approaches the survival of the unit is hanging in the balance with little hope. The meetings continues to have less and less attendance and this month two of the officers stepped down. It has been decided not to have any more meetings until May 2010 at which time a vote will be needed to continue or fold. If we continue, people will have to step up and take officer positions at that time. The unit has worked very hard over the years in the VA hospital and the community. It will be a sad time for those who have been with the unit from the beginning and those who have carried on since.
