Plans for our next General Meeting
By Dan Thompson Commander
Last months newsletter consisted exclusively on the post condition, with focus on its general health, the membership. Although we have size in membership we have run out of people to do the work. There are nine officers needed and only six (according to survey) will take another officer position. I, at the young age of 65, most are in there 70s, 80s and one I know just turned 90. Most are ill or there spouse is ill, which in any case need attention to health issues. The survey sent out had little results as to keeping the post running. What are we going to do?
The choice is yours. November 10, 2009 is the next Legion meeting. I have invited the District and District Vice Commanders to attend the meeting. I hope they will be able to give us the help needed. The realization of the matter is we need more people to get involved. Lots of hard work has gone into this post. Our standing in the community is our post pride and joy. We are not going to give it up without a fight. The real world, we may have to fold. If that happens we need YOU to be there. The decision isnt up to the executive board. They will make the recommendation based on the membership results but then YOU will have to say yes or no. You will have to step up and take an officers position. Just holding a card wont keep it running.
Please be at the November meeting.
Updated Post #64 Statistics
Our post statistics as of today are as follows:
Goal - 86 members
Paid Up for Life (PUFL) - 17
Renewals - 43
Total - 60 Paid Members
Unpaid Members - 21
% of Total based on 86 members - 69.77%
Goal for Month of October - 65%
Updated Analysis
An analysis of participation in post activities provides the following data:
# Active members - 16 (12 are Post Officers)
# Members who attend meetings - 15 (12 are Post Officers)
# Members not active who live in area - 68
# Members who support the post but dont live in the area - 18
One can readily observe that interest in the post meeting is limited. Those who perform most of the post functions in our community are post officers.
