The Black River Gorges National Park:
The gorges national park is the only native forest remains of the Island and includes the last refuge of three of our endemic species of birds that are threatened with extinction namely: the Mauritius Kestrel, the Pink Pigeon and the Mauritius Parakeet (among the rarest birds in the world)
The Casela Bird Park:
The bird park with a natural setting in Black River comprising of about 100 aviaries which house 2,000 birds of 140 different species. Animals such as leopards, tigers, bats etc are also housed in this park.
La Vanille Crocodile Park & Nature Reserve:
This crocodile farm situated at "Riviere Des Anguilles" has over 400 crocodiles. The first crocodiles came from Madagascar.
Pamplemousses Botanical Gardens:
The Pamplemousses Gardens is ranked among the finest gardens in the world. It has about 500 species of different plants and includes palms of over 75 different types, giant size water lilies, talipots and a variety of spices.
Port Louis:
The capital city and seaport of Mauritius was founded by Mahe de Laboudonnais and includes " La Place d'Armes" and other French colonial style buildings like the "Theatre de Port Louis" and "L'Hotel du Gouvernement". The famous "Champs de Mars" racecourse is also found in Port Louis.
Domaine Les Pailles:
A natural reserve park which houses various entertainment facilities including restaurants, a large casino, a pizzeria, a swimming pool, a golf course and stables. Tours in land rovers, trains and "caleches" round the park are also organised.
Curepipe:
One of the main residential areas of the Island, Curepipe comprises of many boutiques and restaurants. An extinct volcano "Le Trou aux Cerfs", also situated in Curepipe, offers a panoramic view all over the Island.
Mahebourg:
Situated in the "Grand Port" district, Mahebourg is famous for the site where the naval battle between the French and the British in the early 18th century was fought. The historical museum of Mahebourg narrates the history of the famous naval battle of "Grand Port".
Grand Bassin:
"Grand Bassin" is one of the two natural lakes of the Island. It is situated in the heart of an extinct volcano and is a pilgrimage site for Mauritians of Hindu faith.
Le Chamarel:
The earth at Chamarel is of seven different colours as a result of natural weathering and the neighboring sites of natural vegetation are of surprising beauty.
Ile aux Cerfs:
Situated off the eastern coast of Mauritius, Ile aux Cerfs includes a boathouse, two restaurants and several kilometers of sandy secluded beaches.
Domaine du Chasseur:
"Domaine du Chasseur" is situated at "Anse Jonchee" in the south east of the Island. It is made up of 900 hectares of hunting ground consisting of wild animals namely: deers, does, wild boers and monkeys. Ten bungalows and a restaurant serving typical Mauritian cuisine are also present on the site.
Le Val Nature Park:
This park is situated in the south east of the Island and is at the centre of a valley surrounded by luxurious vegetation. Birds, monkeys and deers are seen in the park along with bassins of fresh water fish and shrimps.
Eureka Creole Mansion:
Situated near Moka this grand old house built in the 18th century depicts the lifestyle of the early wealthy Mauritians landowners. All of the original furniture has been maintained and the upper floor has been converted into a museum.
Horse Racing:
From the beginning of May until the end of November the horseracing season is of outstanding interest to visitors. The meetings are held during weekends at the Champ de Mars racecourse in Port Louis, which is one of the oldest racecourses in the world, founded in 1812. Mauritius derby day is the Maiden cup, which is run usually late August early September.

Discover the craftsmanship of Mauritius at this gallery where recycled mouth blown glass objects and stained glass products are found. Open Monday to Friday 08h00 - 16h30, Saturday 09h00 - 12h00.
Waterfalls:
The two principal waterfalls are the Rochester Falls near Souillac in the south, which are formed by strange columns of contracted lava, and Chamarel Falls with its fairy like atmosphere in the south west next to the Coloured Earths.
