| There's a new teacher in town, guys... |

A young woman burst through the charms classroom door and looks at her flustered students. A couple of boys have been setting off a
pack of Filibuster Fireworks, but a stern look from the teacher quiets them down. She flips back her short, light brown hair and
looks at them with piercing grey-green eyes.
"I am Professor Mina Baker. I'll be your Charms teacher for the year."
"Now... You are the ____ years, correct?" Professor Baker questions.
A couple of the bolder students nod.
"This is your ____ year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and I hope that you will take your education here very
seriously..."
"Not another McGonagall..." groans a student in the back.
"Hey! That sort of behavior will not be tolerated! Besides, there are much better ways to insult a teacher and get away with it,"
comments the Charms teacher.
A girl in the front row gives her a strange look, as though saying 'This is our teacher?'
Mina Baker starts passing out textbooks, ignoring the girl's stare. "Now, today we will be learning Music Charms. For a Music
Charm to work, you must think of a certain tune or song, and say the proper incantation. I'll demonstrate," she says as she takes
out her polished wand.
"MUZIKA!" she yells and her wand glows light blue. Slowly, a song starts to play. A few of the muggle students recognize it as
Blink 182's 'Adam's Song'. Ms. Baker hums along and waves her wand to the tempo.
Labyrinth Dumbledore flies by the window on a broomstick and starts singing along, "...laughed the loudest, who'd have known?"
Mina frowns slightly and waves to the Headmistress. Labyrinth smiles cheerfully and rides off.
Professor Baker turns back to face the class.
"...And that is how the charm works. Now, all of you, try it!"
The class is full of chaotic noise as the students' favorite songs come blaring out of their wands. The teacher smiles and goes up
to the board and jots down the students' homework assignment.
HOMEWORK
Write an essay or Lab Report about how the charm worked for you. Consider the following: How could the Charm be improved? What were
some of the results?
XTRA CREDIT: Do research to see if there are any charms to keep nosy Headmistress OUT of your classroom.
Mina smiles at the departing students and gets things ready for the next class.
