YOSHI STORY

Shigeru Miyamoto packed Yoshi's Story with enough secrets, hidden areas and tricks to drive even the greatest player fruity. But the Yoshi's Story Official Nintendo Player's Guide gives you a chance to level the gorgeously rendered playing field. This full and complete atlas shows where to pluck each and every melon, banana, grape and apple. You'll find where to grab every Gold Coin, where to catch Ms. Warp napping and where each Special Heart lies hidden
Miss Warp
Zipping around the stages of Yoshi's Story is as easy as, well, turning a page. Slumbering throughout each stage are four roly-poly Miss Warps. Simply jump on one to wake her and save your progress. If you leap off her head, you'll warp to the next Miss Warp who is awake. Miss Warp 1 will take you to 2, 2 will take you to 3, 3 will take you to 4 and 4 will return you to 1.

Poochy
Yoshi's canine pal sure has a nose for hidden items! Follow Poochy whenever you see him. Where he stops, pound the ground. In Stage 1-1, for example, Poochy will guide you to every hidden melon. If nothing turns up when you first pound the ground, sniff around with the R Button to find the exact position of the buried treasure.

White Shy Guy
Shy Guys do not just work for evil. Oh no. Some of them actually have a conscience. If you've lost a Yoshi, you might come across this pale little one, who will dutifully follow you around. You can't eat a White Shy Guy even if you want to. If you complete the stage, the White Shy Guy will appear on your next Yoshi select screen. If you pick him, he will fly to Baby Koopa's castle and bring back your lost Yoshi.

Black and White Yoshis
Rarer than a purple cow are these handsome baby dinos. Black Yoshi's hiding place is rumored to be deep underground, while White Yoshi can only be glimpsed on mountainous heights. Neither appears unless you're playing Story Mode and have lost a regular Yoshi.

All Yoshis love to eat, but none more than the Black or White Yoshis! As far as they're concerned, all fruits are their Favorite Fruit. They also love to scarf down chili peppers and other delectables that normally give baby Yoshis upset stomachs.

Huffin Puffin
Acting like boomeranging eggs, these tubby little birds circle back after Yoshi throws them.

Power Bee
When eaten, many enemies partially restore Yoshi's Smile Meter. Eat a peaceable Power Bee, though, and you'll instantly restore all eight petals to the Smile Meter.

Power Flower
Gardeners and dinos alike treasure this fast-growing perennial for its ability to restore two Smile Meter petals with a simple lick. No matter how many times Yoshi licks a Power Flower, it always grows back. Return often!

Turbo Tulip
No wallflower, this! Eat a Turbo Tulip to transform Yoshi into a giant egg. Aim your cursor, then pull down your Control Stick and release to catapult Yoshi into the air. Press a C Button at any time to restore Yoshi to his dino form.
Just like the first page of a good book, the Beginning page of Yoshi's Story introduces key info you'll need to know throughout the game. Pay close attention to the Message Blocks and try all the buttons on your Controller. You'll be surprised at what turns up!

This one huffs and puffs. Look just below his eyes.
X marks the spot where his treasure lies.
In many good books, a happy beginning quickly gives way to big trouble. It's the same with Yoshi's Story. Page 1 may be sunny and cheerful, but Page 2 plunges you into a gloomy underground world where the light of day never shines.

Bone Dragons hide in dark, scary places.
Sometimes they show more than one ugly faces.
Yoshi's Story rises to an early climax on this page. Whether you opt for air-to-air combat with Shy Guys, surfing on a leaf high above the clouds or perilous adventures on snow-capped mountains, you'll face a fierce battle with one of four high-level bosses. If you're not careful, Yoshi could be in for a big fall!

Air snakes grin. They have big, buggy eyes.
Hop aboard if you want a ride to the skies.
Many of the world's best adventure stories follow a lone hero exploring a trackless jungle. When brave Yoshi enters this sweltering section, he runs into swarms of hot-tempered natives. Carnivorous creatures lurk beneath the surface of Jungle Puddle, while the plant life in Piranha Grove isn't exactly hospitable, either. Rarest of all are the blinking, bobbing Neurons, who turn out to be surprisingly friendly.

King of this jungle is Gabon, a big grump.
On all who come near, spiked balls he does dump.

An ocean of troubles lies between Yoshi and his final approach to the Super Happy Tree. These uncharted seas swarm with strange and horrifying beasts. Cutthroat bands of pirates patrol the rough waters above, firing cannons at unsuspecting travelers. If Yoshi makes it through, he'll have some great sea stories to tell. Stick-wielding Shy Guys patrol the main land route, making all Yoshis hop, skip and jump along a trail fissured with deep crevasses.

Jellyfish swim lazy and slow
Giving Yoshi a chance to play Jacques Cousteau.
Four fearsome castles stand between Yoshi and his final goal: the Super Happy Tree. Baby Koopa has peppered each with treacherous traps, horrible hazards and dungeon-dwelling demons. To avoid an unhappy ending, beware of what might be lurking around that next dark corner!

To beat this slug, so huge and icky,
Requires shooting that is quite tricky.
