CAVALIERS, INC.., a organization comprised of many different entities, was once a support organization to the ladies of Alpha Kappa Alpha. In those days, the organization that you see before you was called something different, being that it was prime affiliated with the AKA's, it was called MIAKA'S or (Men Interested in AKA). MIAKA began in the Spring of 1923 at Voorhees College. During the 56 years of its existence until 1979, there were many branches of this organization. Cavalier, one of the branches of this organization, was founded Feburary 5, 1979, and sought to become the prime affiliation and organization name. The "Knight," the official mascot of this great manhood, still stands proud and bodly before you today. Although the majority of the chapters were in place at various predominantly black institutions, some were placed at other schools. During the year of 1979 members of the chapter at Fort Valley State University declared independency. They sought to have all chapters become independent. Many followed, but some stayed up under the guidance of AKA. During the year of 1988 the NPHC (National Pan-Hellenic Council) declared among all affiliates that there could no longer be any support organizations under AKA guidance. This brought forth a RENAISSANCE for all C.I. chapters with the leaders being FVSU, who sought to become incorporated.
Many chapters joined this round table of KNIGHTHOOD with FVSU leading the way. Chapters such as Albany State University, Clark Atlanta, Morehouse, Valdosta State, Voorhees, Middle Georgia, Tuskegee Institute, Tenessee State, Grambling State, Southern University at Sheverport, Paine College, and many more. The CAVALIER organization during its 75 years of service has continued the legacy. A social/service organization that serves mankind throughout the world without discrimination. Doing such service to the community as AIDS Awareness, Nursing home vistations, Volunteer tutoring, and mentoring programs. Unlike others within the Fraternal Order of Non-Greek, Cavalier/C.I. Inc.continues to let the light shine set forth by its forefathers. REAL MEN, ARE CAVALIER MEN!
