There are 41 cars. I used the Gulch Stepper for most of these findings. After I obtained the Lakester, I used it to collect the Thunder Roller.
DAWN ENCOUNTER (two cars):
LAKESTER: Go up the blue ramp after the waterfall jump. Go to the "DANGER" box and drop down to the road below, then back up.
SILHOUETTE II: At the waterfall jump, don't jump. At the edge of the red ramp, try to jump into the middle of the waterfall (below the edge). VERY TRICKY!! If you can't do it that way, go ahead and make the waterfall jump. On the right, you'll see a hole in the mountain. Back up to the rail opposite the hole. Turbo towards the hole. Sometimes you'll bounce up into the hole! If not, don't worry. You'll usually get another turbo for quick air so try again. Down the passage is the car.
SNAKE RIVER (two cars):
FORMULA 5000: Go to the coal mine car crossing. In the middle of the coal mine car's track is the car.
DRAGSTER: At the end of the red and green loop (and track), veer right. Follow the shortcut until you bust the metal roofing. Back up and get the car.
ROAD TO RUSTWELL (two cars):
STAGEFRIGHT: After the start, aim right (off the first ramp) towards the boarded-up passage. Slow down towards the end of the passage and find the car.
ROCK BUSTER: After the big blue hill with the yellow arrows on it, you''ll be in a town. After the small brown ramp, turn left and bust the metal wall to get the car.
COLD FUSION (two cars):
SLIDEOUT: After the black loop with red rails, veer left. Slowly go into the cave and turn left to find the car.
JET THREAT: On the final jump (two orange ramps), take the ramp on the right. After the jump, head towards the big snowballs. Bust them and 'rub' (keep touching) the left wall until you break open a secret door. With a high durability car (GULCH STEPPER, of course) break the ice that encloses the car.
COMMAND CENTER (two cars):
SOL-AIRE CX4: After the first checkpoint, slow down. On the green road there are six metal doors. Break open the second door on the right. Slow down towards the end of the red passage to get the car.
THUNDER ROLLER (use the LAKESTER): After the tunnel with the orange lights, there's a snowy road and then three ramps. Take the middle ramp (with a black and white barracade), aim dead center and turbo at the end of the ramp. On the second mesa (flat top rock) you'll find the car.
HELLCRASH (one car):
SUPER VAN: At the first checkpoint, turbo twice to break the wall and grab the van.
For three more of the cars (and two more tracks), you'll have to place 1st in the Hot Wheels Cup. I used the LAKESTER to win the Cup. The cars you will open by winning the Cup are the BI-SECTOR, the GO-KART, and the ROAD ROCKET.
R.M. SLUDGEWORKS (two cars):
POWER ROCKET: In the 'WRECKING YARD' (the first walls you'll break through), immediately turn right. 'Rub' the wall to open the secret passage to the car.
RIGOR MOTOR: In the 'RIGOR MOTORS' garage (after the second jump over the spiked cylinders), turn right. Break the sixth wall panel and go down the passage to grab the car.
R.M. TEST TRACK (one car):
HOT WHEELS 500: Enter the red cave. Immediately after the first pillar, turn right. 'Rub' the wall to open the passage and collect the car.
To unlock the TWINMILL and TWINMILL II cars, you'll have to place 1st in the Secret Cup.
