1. REIS CARLTON (6) KASH: [CARLTON (5), REESE (4), CALEB (3), JAMES (2) CASH, JOHN (1)] Was born December 14, 1905 in Slate Valley, Bath Co., KY, and died June 25, 1958 in Cincinnati, Hamilton, Ohio. He married MARY ELIZABETH WHITE abt. 1926 in Bloomington, McLean Co., Illinios, daughter of JOHN WHITE and FLORENCE DEARTH.
Notes for REIS CARLETON KASH:
Reis Carleton Kash was a skilled editor and reporter. He played the classical violin with professional skill and at one time played with the Northern Kentucky Symphony. His hobbies were archery and golf, which he played in the low to mid 70's. He was an active Mason and held several high offices in that organization in addition to teaching Masonic Philosophy at Masonic University in Cincinnati, Ohio. He died of heart failure following a Masonic event in Cincinnati. For many years he was editor of Display World Magazine, a display industry trade paper located in Cincinnati, Ohio, a positionwhich he held at the time of his death. His nickname among the members of this trade was "Rabbi" because of his wisdom. - Reis Rene Kash 7 Sep 1997.
Reis Kash was associate editor of the Somerset Journal, Somerset, KY until he left that paper in about June 1935 to become editor of the Display World, 1209-1211 Sycamore Street, Cincinnati, OH. (Ltr. R.C. Kash to Sag Kash 17 Aug 1936.)

1) Oliver Kash and Reis (Note Spelling) Kash, (Laura Swetnam's Reese) were brothers. This Reese was Reis C. Kash's grandfather, for whom he was named.
2) Reis C. Kash's grandmother, Laura Swetnam Kash, lived to be 89 years old, dying of "apoplexy" in Owingville, KY 1937.
3) Carleton Kash and Lilly Johnson Kash lived with Laura Swetnam Kash until his death when Reis Kash was two years of age, or about 1906/1907, when "we went to Illinois." After graduation (high school) I worked for a fraternal publication in Peoria, IL, and with a manufacturing company in Bloomington, IL, for four or five years, then returned to Kentucky and worked for the Somerset Journal.
4) In keeping with Kash tradition, wanted to be a doctor, but couldn't afford it. Disliked lawyers who "used (the law) for their own ends."

During World War II, Reis C. Kash served as Dep Commander of Civilian Defense in Rosedale- Latonia area (Covington, KY), and spent 300 hours as a volunteer helper in the operating room of General Hospital, Cincinnati, OH. (Pamphlet written by Reis C. Kash when candidate for Village Council of Golf Manor)
Ltr, Dennis Kash to Reis R. Kash, 1 Feb 1987. "Dad died early June 1958. He's buried in the Westlake Cemetary on Detroit Rd., Westlake, Ohio. Mother died in June or July 1977 in El Paso, Texas. Her ashes were scattered somewhere outside El Paso, TX.

Mary Elizabeth White Kash was a home maker who married very young and did not have time to attend college, being too busy raising three sons. Notes for REIS RENE KASH:
Reis Rene Kash completed a Bachelor's Degree (Park College, Kansas City, MO) and a Master's Degree (Wichita State University, Kansas City, KS), at night on the GI bill. He worked as an usher, chief of service, and assistant manager at theatres in Cincinnati, OH, during World War II and then joined the Army in 1949, serving as a military policeman in Tokyo and Korea, and then as a Criominal Investigator with Army CID in Virginia, Maryland, Kentucky, Korea, Germany, and Viet Nam. He retired from the Army in 1969 and started an Internal Security Unit with the U.S. Marchals Service in Washington, D.C. During his career with the Marshals, he became Chief of Operations and ran all operational programs for the Marshals. He became a regional director (Region III) (see badge number 13, which stands for the first official in region 3 and the matching serial number of the Colt Army .45). As and additional duty, he was the Grievance Adjudicator for the Service, continuing this function as a contractor after his retirement from the Service. His hobbies are hiking, canoeing, snow-shoeing, reading and genealogy. Reis R. Kash 7 Sept 1997.
