| Varsity Team....Bob Wasilak Mr.Wasz is a graduate of Kean College where he received his B.A. in physical education and a Masters Degree in Student Personnel Services. While a player for K.H.S. he was named to the All-State Team as a catcher. He signed a professional baseball contract with the New York Yankees and played for two seasons in their minor league system. Mr. Wasz.has been a windmill softball pitcher for over 20 years; where he has competed at A.S.A. Regional, National and World Tournament levels. While,working as a physical education teacher within the Kearny school system, he has coached wrestling, soccer and softball. As the varsity softball coach his teams have won close to 200 games. Varsity Team....Denise Warnock Denise is a first year physical education and health teacher in the high school. She brings plenty of softball experience and coaching knowledge to the Kards program. While playing as a pitcher for Kearny High School in the early 90's, she won 50 games and compiled over 300 strikeouts. She went on to excell at Montclair University, where she was named Freshman Athlete of the Year and NJAC Rookie of the Year. She was also honored at the Division 3 College World Series,when she was named to the All-Tournament team. Denise is also actively involved as a camp clinician and also gives private pitching lessons. She will be a tremendous asset to the Lady Kards coaching staff. Junior Varsity Team....Jennifer Corbett Jennifer is also a graduate of Kearny High School. During her high school playing days she competed on both the varsity soccer and softball teams. As a softball player she was the teams starting shortstop, winning the prestigous "Coaches Award" in her senior year. She attended college at Montclair University where she majored in Elementary Eduvation. Jennifer who was a volunteer coach at the freshman level the last few seasons is currently a teacher at Garfield School. She is also a great addition to our coaching staff. Freshman Team....Patty Sandle Patty is a graduate of St. Cecilia High School and Montclair State College. She is a devoted softball enthusiast who gained her experience on the softball playing field. Patty was a pitcher for the Kearny Robins Class-A women's fastpitch team which traveled and competed at the Regional and National tournament levels. The Robins won the NJ State Tournament in 1976 and went on to compete in National Tournament play in Fargo,North Dakota. She has been an HSPT reading teacher at Kearny High School for the past 8 years. Patty is an extremely dedicated and enthusiastic coach who has helped the Kearny High Softball program become a consistent winner. She is soley responsible for the implementation of the freshman program; starting the team five years ago as a volunteer coach. Then playing a limited 9 games; the program has evolved into a team with a 25 game schedule and a fine winning tradition. |
