Pokémon
Pokémon (short for Pocket Monsters, pronounced Poh-kay-mauhn) is
a Game Boy game that first debuted in Japan, February 27th, 1996. It
wasn't long until it became the highest selling game in the history of
Japan. With its cute, little characters such as Pikachu, demand for the
little monsters grew. Soon, Pokémon merchandise had been stocking
up on shelves with dolls, puppets, glasses, stamps, stationary, rings,
clothes, and even Pokémon costumes.
In addition to the release of the game here in North America, the little
critters arrived with its very own animated series on September 8th.
The Pokémon series are vaguely based on the game's story line with
Ash Ketchum and his Pokémon, Pikachu, as the main characters.
The show has already been broadcasted to over 86% of the television
markets in the U.S.A. |
