It is recommended that no solid food be eaten the evening before or the morning after your first full day fast (unless that solid food is raw fruits or vegetables).
Raw plant food promotes the digestion and breakdown of old food material left in your digestive system, which is helpful before your fast -- and raw food will maintain your heightened feeling of well-being and high energy after your fast.
Most successful juice fasters avoid chewing during the fasting phase. Chewing activates saliva production which in turn activates digestive juice flow. Chewing keeps your body prepared and posed to eat. Avoiding chewing will lessen hunger pangs and thoughts of eating.
Drinking water, juice and broth calms and nourishes your body without stimulating your body's urge to eat. You will find your body's hunger amazingly satisfied by sipping these vital nutritious liquids in answer to every hunger pang.
Don't think of juice fasting as starving yourself. Think of juice fasting as gorging yourself on vitamins, minerals, vitality and H20.
IN PREPARATION OF YOUR FAST
Prepare the following things the evening before your fast:
Fruit Juices, (apple, citrus or any fruit of your choice)
Vegetable Broth
The vegetables that will be used in your vegetable juice. (wash, peel, cut off ends, etc)
(Vegetable Juice should be prepared the morning of the fast for optimal vitality and potency.)
YOU WILL NEED:
1) A juice extractor
2) ________ lbs fruit (citrus,apple,pear,pineapple or other fruits or your choice). Grapefruit, orange and apple are the most popular and easily attainable most times of the year.
3) ________ lbs vegetables (carrots, cucumbers, celery, zucchini, yellow squash, cabbage, broccili)
SUGGESTED AMOUNTS OF JUICE
2 -4 cups of fruit (citrus, apple, pear or other fruit) and 3 -6 cups of vegetable juice (see Juice Recipes).
Juices are best diluted with pure water giving you enough juice to answer every hunger pang all day long.
Supplement your juices with as much nutritious warm vegetable broth as you have a taste for.
EXTENDED JUICE FASTS
For an Extended Juice Fast (more than one day, no more than 3 days) we suggest adding to your juices, water and broth - 2 or 3 fruit smoothies .
