Who's Pikachu?
Pikachu (peek-ah-choo) is easily the most popular of all the Pokemon. Pikachu is as recognizable in Japan as Mickey Mouse ... and has been seen in movies, on a TV show, as dolls, keychains, phones, and yes .. even underwear. On the TV show, Pikachu was originally given to Ash by Professor Oak (this is on Episode 1..available at our bookstore ;) Pikachu is one of the main characters of the Pokémon TV series and is also Ash's best friend and Pokémon. Pikachu is an adorable electric-mouse Pokémon, who loyally defends his friends Ash, Misty, and Brock and stands up for all Pokémon-kind. Like most Pokémon, Pikachu communicates by repeating his name over and over with his cute, baby-like voice. Pikachu is constantly pursued by the evil Team Rocket.
Who's Misty?

Ash finds out she is a leader at the Cerulean City Gym. Her favorite pokemon: Staryu, Starmie, Horsea. least favorite: PSYDUCK
Who's Brock?
Brock is the leader of the first pokemon gym. Ash meets Brock while fighting in Brock's gym. Brock loves rock type pokemon. After Ash fights him they become pals.
Who's Team Rocket?
Team Rocket is an international Pokémon crime syndicate, of which the two most famous
(and inept) members are THE Team Rocket, Jessie and James. They're always accompanied by Meowth, the only pokemon who speaks a human language.
Together with their own pokemon (Ekans and Koffing, who later evolve into Weezing and Arbok) they travel around stealing pokemon. At least, that's what they try to do...they never manage to succeed. It seems that no matter what ingenious plan they concoct, Ash, Misty, Brock, and Pikachu are always showing up and thwarting their schemes. Team Rocket wants a Pikachu, and not just any Pikachu will do. They want Ash's Pikachu and have tried to capture him on several occasions. They never manage to accomplish anything but being "blasted off" in the end of nearly every episode. At times they seem to be the most brilliant of criminal minds, yet they're plans always backfire. Team Rocket is most known for their "motto," which always proceeds a battle with them:
Jessie: "Prepare for trouble..."
James: "And make it double..."
Jessie: "To protect the world from devastation..."
James: "To unite all peoples within our nation..."
Jessie: "To denounce the evils of truth and love..."
James: "To extend our reach to the stars above..."
Jessie: "Jessie..."
James: "James..."
Jessie: "Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light..."
James: "Surrender now, or prepare to fight..."
Meowth: "Meowth, that's right!"
Right before they begin their master plans, Team Rocket always says their motto. Not much is know about each of the member's pasts. We know that James comes from a wealthy family and that his parents want him to marry some girl named Jessibell who looks identical to Jessie. We don't know anything about Jessie's past. We know that Meowth was at one time the Boss's pokemon, and that Jessie and James aren't his trainers. And that's all we know... every criminal has his or her secrets, right?
Who's Professor Oak?
Professor Oak is a Pokemon Professor that gives trainers their first Pokemon. He will also give them a Pokedex. A Pokedex tells trainers about Pokemon they see. Professor Oak helps trainers as they travel to become Pokemon masters. In the cartoon, Professor Oak is a combination of a person with high intelligence, and a buffoon. He seems to be becoming more & more a minor character as the show goes on.
