Author's Notes: Hey people! This is my first time writing a fanfic for
maxpages.com and I would like to thank John for giving me this opportunity.
I really appreciate it and I'm grateful. Thanks.

Anyway, I must let you know that when I write Sailormoon fanfics, I don't
do it exactly the way Sailormoon is suppose to be. I usualy add characters
to my fanfics that have never been heard of before and probably never will
appear on Sailormoon. So if you find new characters, then don't expect them
to show up on the Sailormoon episodes and don't think that you may have
missed something. I just do this for fun because I like letting my
imagination run wild. So if you think that my writing techniques are
different then don't be surprised. I'm just setting this straight.

So anyway, here's chapter one of "Love and Jealousy" and I hope you like
it. Enjoy!

Love and Jealousy - Chapter 1: Revenge (PG13) By: Melody
(moonwalk85@hotmail.com)

" Meatball head! "

" Concieted jerk! "

" Lazy airhead! "

" Heartless loner! "

" Lazy klutz! "

" Ooooooh! You make me so mad, Darien! " A blonde-headed girl whined,
stomping her foot on the ground, gaining a fit of mocking laughter from the
black-haired man before her. " Of course I do. That's my purpose. I live to
insult you. " He commented, his voice dripping with mockery.
The girl glared at him, her baby blue eyes beggining to water.

" Darien, why are you always so mean to me?! " She whined, trying to hold
back the tears. Darien laughed, his midnight blue eyes sparkling with
mischief. " I'm not being mean to you. I'm just being generous enough to
state the truth, meatball head. You are a klutz. You're always late for
school. You're always failing tests and you can't even walk one block
without tripping. Face it, Serena. You are a meatball head. Your hair says
it, too. " He mocked, grinning at her red face.

Serena could practically feel steam rising from her ears. Her face turned
a darker shade of red with anger as her eyes began to water even more. "
Thanks very much, Darien. But I already know the truth and you don't have to
shove it in my face! " Laughing, Darien held his sides as his stomach began
to ache from the pain of laughing a little too hard. " Well, meatball
head....it's the truth. So face it. "

Serena sniffled as a tear escaped her eye. She tried to glare at him but
failed miserably. She felt her self esteem lower and her wall of strength
tumble down to hell where Darien, the devil himself, is pulling it even
lower. She wanted so badly to scream at him, to get back at him, to take
revenge at him for making her feel bad every single day of her life....but
she couldn't. She wasn't known as Serena the revenge taker.....she wasn't
knows for any bad things at all. If anything, Serena was a kind-hearted girl
who was loyal and always willing to lend a hand if someone needed it. She
couldn't bear to hate anyone and it was just too unfortunate for her that
Darien had to take advantage of this. He knew she couldn't hate anyone and
Darien used this as a way to tease her without having her hate him back. And
she hated this fact. This was the only thing she could ever hate.

Glaring at him, Serena gathered up all the words she had left and spat, "
I hate you, Darien! "... and took off as fast as the wind. Running out the
door, she left Darien at the arcade, laughing his head off. She knew that he
knew this wasn't true. She could never bring herself to hate anyone and
saying that she hated him just probably made it worse.

She ran blindly past people who tried to dodge her twister speed as she
made her way toward the park where hopefully, fewer people were around. She
knew she could cry her heart out there without having anyone disturb her or
make fun of her weakness. If she went home, then she knew her cat and
advisor, Luna, would scold her again and yell at her for being such a
crybaby. She would probably say that Serena was Sailormoon, the leader of
the Sailor Scouts and she had to act like one. Luna always said that.....and
though Serena knew that she was the leader of the Sailor Scouts and is
destined to fight evil, it didn't mean that she couldn't cry or make
mistakes like a normal human. She could.....she has to. It's part of being
human and people always expected her not to cry. People always expected her
to actually act like a perfect leader.....people always expected too much of
her. She wasn't perfect. No one is....why didn't anyone see that?!

She was human....she makes mistakes and it's bad enough having to risk her
life everyday, fighting monsters and getting bad grades at school, plus
always klutzing out....now she had people pointing her mistakes out to her.
Life wasn't fair! Why couldn't she just be a normal teenager without having
anyone to make her feel worse? She hated her life!

Running past trees, Serena ignored the looks people were giving her that
obviously meant
'You're crazy' or 'What's your problem?!' She simply ran right past them and
dropped on the ground beside a lake, where no one was around.

Curling up into a ball, she cried her heart out, not bothering to check if
anyone was passing by. She had to cry her frustrations away or she would
never be able to live a peaceful life again. Her life wasn't peaceful....but
at least she had to restore what was left of it.

About fifteen minutes past and her tears finally subsided. Still curled up
into a ball, she watched the calm lake create tiny waves along with the
strong breeze that passed by. Her eyes wondered to the other side of the
lake and sighed, comparing herself to the clear water. The lake was nothing
like her. The lake was calm, peaceful, unaffected by the breeze and it
seemed like it had no troubles at all. The lake was unaffected by the
problems in the world.....nothing like Serena.

Serena had a complicated life...nothing close to peaceful. She was always
affected by problems....even little things like homework affected her
greatly. But if it weren't for being Sailormoon then she probably you
wouldn't even be having problems....but unfortunatly, out of all the girls
in the world, she was to chosen to be Sailormoon. She didn't know why but
this simply affected her life even more. She had a lot of problems. She was
the total opposite of the lake.

Looking at her reflection in the water, she watched herself with sad eyes,
observing her form in the clear water. It's as if she didn't even know the
girl before her. Just a few years ago, everytime she'd look at her
reflection, the girl she saw was happy. The girl she saw had no problems, no
responsibilities that are more than she could handle....she was normal. But
that girl existed in the past. That girl is gone now. And that girl is
replaced by a new girl...the girl she saw before her.

But her reflection wasn't the only one she saw saw....there was another
reflection she didn't recognize. A figure stood beside her. It was the
figure of a man. Looking at him from the reflection made it harder to be
sure who it was sine his face was not clear enough. And even though she
could tell that part of his facial features were gentle....she had a bad
feeling about him.

Not wanting to turn around, she remained curled up in a ball, but her back
instanly straightened as she felt a cool breeze blow upon her neck. She felt
as if someone was an inch away from her, watching her from her shoulder.
Tiny goosebumps formed on her body as her fine hair stood on ends. The cool
feeling traveled up her spine, making her shiver and wrap her amrs around
her tighter....at least that's what she thought she did.

Strong arms wrapped themselves around her and it took her a moment to
realize that it wasn't her own....the arms felt masculine and warmed her up,
but at the same time, the arms sent this chilling feeling up her spine that
seemed to make her shiver even more.

Her heart was pounding against her chest, realizing that some stranger was
hugging her from behind and she was too scared to even see who it was. Her
mind screamed at her for not turning to face him, but her body wouldn't
respond. Shutting her eyes, she held her breath at the feeling of his own
upon her neck. She felt as if his lips brushed her neck slightly. But when
she thought about it, he didn't. Clenching her fists, she turned around
slowly, ready to face him......

Turning around, she gasped at the sight of his face and instantly jumped
up. Taking a few steps backward, she turned around, ready run without even
looking at him one more time. Just as her legs took the first few steps, a
tree branch popped out of no where and tripped her. Serena shut her eyes,
bracing herself for the strong impact. But instead of the hard ground, she
felt a warm body catch her, bringing her back to her feet.

Opening her eyes, she turned to face the stranger who had thankfully saved
her from the hard ground. Her blue eyes met flashing green ones where a few
blonde bangs fell upon. Blinking twice, she focused her vision upon the
stranger's face which turned out to be very handsome. The man seemed to be
about Darien's age with a strong body and rather muscular arms that were
wrapped tightly around her slim waist.

She gave a little squeek as they both made eye contact, only to have it
broken when the man straightened his back and helped her regain her balance.
Looking at him, Serena remembered to shut her gaping mouth. The man chuckled
slightly, amused at her reactions. Arching one brow, Serena shot him a
questioning gaze. " Um.....thanks. You....saved me from falling. Um...I,
I-um..."

The man chuckled again, his green eyes sparkling. Serena frowned. " Why
are you laughing? " She demanded, her stuttering lost. The man shook his
head and looked at her apologetically, though he still had a mischivous grin
on his lips. " Nothing....sorry. I wasn't laughing at you, though. "
Crossing her arms, Serena lifted her chin and gave a little pout, gaining a
fit of laughter from the man. " Now what?! " She growled, afraid that he was
making fun of her just like Darien. She felt a new set of tears began to
rise again but this didn't go unoticed.

The man instantly shut his mouth and placed another apologetic look. "
Sorry....I really didn't mean to laugh. And I wasn't laughing at you....it's
just that you look so cute with all your expressions. " He grinned. Serena's
tears vanished as she stared at him in shock. " Cute? You think I'm cute? "
She blushed. Grinning even wider, the man nodded. " In fact, I think you're
better than cute....I should say beautiful. " Serena blushed deeper and was
rewarded with a charming smile from him.

Stretching his arm out, he introduced himself. " My name's Brad. And you
are.....? " Serena simply stared at the hand for a moment, dumbfounded and
not sure what to do with the extended hand. The realization finally hit her
as a pink hue of embarassment tinted her already pink cheeks. But
fortunatly, the man didn't seem to mind and seeing that he didn't have any
intentions that were similar to Darien's, she gladly took his hand and
smiled back. " Serena. My name's Serena. " Brad smiled sweetly and bowed
down, kissing her hand. Serena blushed a deep crimson gaining a few chuckles
from Brad. " Serena....that's a beautiful name. It fits you. After all, a
beautiful woman deserves a beautiful name, isn't that right Serena? "

Serena nodded shyly. " I suppose....thank you. " Brad grinned and led her
toward a marble bench. " Sitting down, he placed one arm around her and
grinned. " So, Serena, why were you crying earlier? I'm really sorry if I
frightened you...but I just wanted to comfort you. And I want to know why
you were crying. A girl like you doesn't deserve sadness. "

Serena's anger suddenly rushed back as the memories of her sorrowful
crying came back. But the gentle look in Brad's eyes drove them all away and
replaced it with something else....though she wasn't sure what. " Well, it's
just that I had a bad day. That's all. " Brad arched an eyebrow and sighed.
" You're a smart person, Serena...I can tell. But that doesn't mean you can
lie to me. "

Feeling embarrased, Serena looked down as tears began to form once again.
" I'm not smart! Everyone thinks I'm dumb. Especially Darien. " Brad knitted
his brows together at the sound of Darien's name. " Darien? So there is a
problem. And I take it this Draien guy is giving you problems, isn't he? "
Serena nodded slowly, not wanting him to think that she couldn't handle
things. She wanted to tell him about being Sailormoon and everything
else....but she knew that couldn't be done. If she couldn't tell anyone
about being Sailormoon then at least she could talk to him about Darien. She
didn't care if he did think she was stupid. All she knew was that she needed
someone to talk to right now. And he seemed like the right person at the
moment.

Making up her mind to tell him, she shifted uncomfortably in her seat and
reluctantly told him about Darien. Their conversation went on without
interuptions as Brad listened carefuly, his eyes somehow filled with concern
and a little hatred. He didn't seem to like Darien either.

".....And that's when you found me crying, I guess. " Serena finished off,
hoping that she didn't make herself sound like a whimpy moron to him who
cried all because of some guy who kept teasing her. If he had known the
entire story of her life then he'd see her reasons for crying....but even
though he didn't, he seemed to know.

His reactions softened though his eyes were slightly cold and filled with
dislike, and Serena knew who it was for. This wasn't what she expected at
all. She expected him to yell at her or make fun of her...mock her and drag
her onto the streets for so world to embarass her just like Darien...but he
didn't. Instead, he placed another arm around her and kissed her cheek.

Blushing a deep crimson, Serena looked into his eyes with confusion, not
sure if he was just pitying her so she wouldn't feel bad or if he really was
a good person. Inside, she knew it wasn't pity....but she doubted his
kindess as well. Though he seemed like a nice person, she didn't feel too
good about that for some reason. But she shook it off as quickly as it had
come.

Brad smiled at her and shifted in his seat. " Well, Serena....I think that
Darien isn't suppose to treat you this way. You deserve better....besides,
I'm sure you have your reasons for thinking that you're a klutz, yourself. "
Serena frowned. " I do not think I'm a klutz! I KNOW I'm a klutz! And Darien
always shoves it in my face! "

Tears rose back to her eyes, threatening to fall but Brad clamed her down
easily. " Alright, I'm sorry....it was my mistake. But I honestly think that
you have your reasons for being this way. No one's born stupid and I think
that you're just stressed out all the time from something. I'm not sure
what, but do you do anything else that doesn't concern school that may be
the cause of this?"

Serena's eyes widened. Either this guy was a good guesser...or he knew she
was Sailormoon all along. But she doubted both. " Well....no. I don't think
there's any other...." She lied. Brad sensed this but simply ignored it. "
Well then, no matter the reason, Darien still has no right to be too harsh
on you. I'de understand if he was just plain teasing you but from what you
told me, this guy's gone way too far. And I think that you shouldn't let him
push you around anymore. I think you should stand up for yourself. "

Serena blinked, knowing all too well that he was right. She didn't want to
be pushed around anymore and she wanted to stand up for herself...but, "
How? " She asked, realizing that she had just said the last word outloud.
Brad pondered for a moment, then a sly grin came up to his face.....one
Serena's never seen before. And it did seem a little frightening. " Easy.
Take revenge."

Serena stared at him for a moment, not sure about what he just said, but
the moment she found out, she frowned at him and yelled. " I cannot take
revenge! It's not my department and never will be! Besides, it's wrong. "
Brad seemed shocked at the sudden out-burst but raised his voice, as well,
so it equally matched hers.

" Well you can't just stand there and do nothing! You have to fight,
Serena! You can't let him win all the time! Do you want to be embarassed
again?! He deserves to be punished so show him what you're made of! "

" But hatred is not what I'm made of! "

" But you said you hated him! "

" I know but that doesn't mean that I actually do hate the man. "

" You said he was Satan. "

" Yes, but I can't even face the damn devil! "

" That's why you gotta practice on revenge. "

" I could never bring myself to hate anyone! Not even Darien! Even if he's
mean I can't hate him! "

" But you must. Unless you want to keep being pushed around. "

" I don't, but there must be another way....revenge isn't always the
answer! "

" It is now. "

At this, Brad's eyes began to glow a bright green as a white flash of
light blinded Serena for a second. Shielding her eyes from the bright light,
Serena shrieked as the light seemed to take over her. A spine-chilling
feeling crawled up her back as a wave of nausea swept over her. Her vision
seemed to blur even though her eyes were shut and a powerful burst took
over.

In a matter of seconds, Serena was able to open her eyes again, the
frightening feeling hanging at the pit of her stomach. But other than
that.....she felt fine. It's as if nothing had happened. She felt as if she
never experienced the light and as if Brad wasn't even there....and he
wasn't.

Looking around, Serena's eyes darted from tree to tree and passed each
person that passed by. But Brad was no where. Not sure how he disappeared,
she turned around ready to leave, when something caught her eye. A green
stick was lying on the ground where Brad had been standing at earlier.
Bending down, Serena picked up the green stick and examined it. It looked
like a diamond except that it was bright green. Sunlight shone through it,
creating green figures upon the clear water of the lake. Deciding that the
stick was simply a stick an nothing more, she shoved it in her pocket,
deciding to tell the Sailor Scouts about it later that day.

Turning around she headed for her friend's Temple and watched out for Brad
at the same time, hoping to catch him hiding among the trees or somewhere.
Every single move went unoticed by her keen eyes, but there was something
she didn't notice. As soon as she left the park, the surface of the lake
where the stick had cast it's sunlit figures upon, rippled. The green forms
that were cast upon it seemed to have an affect on the clear water....and
Serena was wrong. The lake was affected.....and she didn't notice it.
