(Jingle Bells)
C. (D)Bread is bread. Simply bread. Wine is (G)only (D)wine.
(G)One of them grows (D)in the field, the (E7)oth- er on a (A7)vine. Sal-
(D)va- tion, for- give- ness and life are (G)all con- (D)ferred,
(G)when these are con- (D)nect- ed up with (A7)God's own gracious (D) word.
1. You
(D)take some flour and mix with wat- er, salt and (G)yeast. You
(G)stretch and knead it, (D)then you leave it (A7)rise an hour, at (D)least. You
(D)stick it in the stove. You turn the dial to (G)"on." If
(G)ev- 'ry thing goes (D)right you'll soon have (A7)bread for munching (D)on.
Chorus
2. You
take a bunch of grapes and throw them in a vat, take
off your shoes and socks and stomp them 'til they're squashed all flat. You
store them in the dark. If ev- 'rything goes fine, (as-
sum- ing that your feet were clean) you'll end up with some wine.
Chorus
3. We
know it's not the grapes , we know it's not the grain. That
these things can't forgive our sins is all so very plain. It
was upon the cross, the vic- tory was won
by the death and resurrection of God's only Son.
Chorus
4. But
just how could we know, that all of this is true ex-
cept that God has said to us "poured out and giv'n for you?" For
just as God's great love, is writ- ten in the Word, so
al- so in the sacrament for- give- ness too is heard.
Chorus
