(Yankee Doodle)
1. When
(G)Je- sus gave the sac- ra- (D7)ment, he (G)said that we should do (D7)it! Can
(G)we think of a (C)better reason (D7)for us to get (G)to it? We
(G)know so well he did not (D7)say, "as (G)sel- dom as you drink (D7)it," But
(G)by the way some f(C)olks attend they (D7)sur- e- ly must (G)think it.
C. (C)To communion we should go, (G)of- ten as we're able.
(C)Je- sus wants us all to come quite (G) of- ten (D7)to his (G)table.
2. We
may feel that, because of sin, we don't deserve to take it. We
need to know that this is true and we should not mistake it. God
didn't give the sacrament be- cause of perfect livin'. But
He gave it to us so we might know that we're forgiven.
Chorus
3. But
if, upon the other hand, His sup- per is not taken, be-
cause we think we are so good, then we are sure mistaken. The
scrip- ture say of all of us, the mark we're often missin' and
though we may not feel our sin, we sure- ly need to listen.
Chorus
4. We
should receive the sacrament at an- y time, whenever we
have the chance. That makes more sense than sel- domly or never. For
Je- sus wants us all to know his grace he gives us freely. In
bread and wine he's there for us with full forgiveness, really!
Chorus
