You begin in Pallet Town. After picking your name, head north out of the town and you will be stopped by Prof. Oak. He will give you the beginner info and a Pokemon; Either Bulbasaur, Charmander, or Squirtle. (no Jigglypuff, BooHoo! ) After you choose, Gary will challenge you to a battle. Beat him up, win some cash and head north to Viridian City. On the way, your pokemon can gain Exp by fighting wild Pokemon. Once at Viridian, heal up and head to the mart. A person will give you a package. Deliver it to Prof. Oak and he'll give you a Pokedex. Go back to the mart and buy some items. Check out the rest of the city, and head north into Viridian Forest, where you will find Caterpie, Metapod, Weedle, Kakuna, and maybe a Pikachu. Again, no Jigglpuff.
There are some rival trainers in the forest. Beat them for Exp and money. As you travel, you will find a potion, antidote, and a pokeball. Find your way out and head north again to Pewter City. Once in , explore and head to the gym. Before taking on Brock, the city gym leader, build up a water/grass Pokemon to L17+ This will ensure your victory. You will recieve the Boulderbadge and TM34 ( Bide ) Heal your Pokemon and head east. On the way to Mt. Moon, there are more trainers to beat up. They're fairly easy. You can also find Spearow, and finally.....Jigglypuff !! Keep on until you reach Mt. Moon. You canfind loads more items, including a couple of TMs, and rock or ground Pokemon. After exploring and beating yet more trainers, find the exit. Follow the path to Cerulean City. On the way, another pokemon is available; Ekans(red) Sandshrew(blue) Continue to the city. Once again head to the gym. Misty, the leader has a Staryu and Starmie, L18 and L21. Build up a Geodude + Pikachu to L23+. Beat her and gain TM11 and the Cascadebadge. Heal Pokemon, Head North. At the beginning of the path you will find Gary again. He's now a bit tougher and you'll need a few strong pokemon. Beat Gary and continue north. there are lots of trainers this way to fight. Heal up at the Pokecenter and take them all on. Make your way to Sea Cottage (West) Bill is there. Help him and he'll give you the S.S Anne ticket. Grab it , and head back to Cerulean to find the house with the policewoman standing by it. Go thru the house, down the path and you'll find the Daycare Center The bloke in there will get one of your Pokemon up levels. Keep going down and take the underground path. Once out, you'll be in a field with some trainers. You can find Meowth (blue) or Mankey (red). Go south to Vermillion City.
