The Russian Bear, and the Persian King:

Russia before the eighth century was settled by tribes of nomadic peoples. In the eleventh and twelfth centuries it was occupied by the Varangians, and the Slavs, at the time the name "Rosh" was given to a wandering nomadic people
who were now benefiting from trade with what we now know as modern day Europe. Almost half of the Russian peoples would die later on due to wars with the Arab Caliphs ,and a huge Mongol invasion called the “Tatars“! Three centuries of unrest
and persecution would follow this Mongol oppression! Ivan the Great would throw down the Mongol
yoke in 1380 A.D. ,and he became the leader of all the peoples of Russia! Russia would see moderate turmoil through
the reign of the many Tsar’s until the beginning of World War I under Tsar Nicholas II not wanting war, but realizing that Germany would eventually dominate all of Europe they engaged Germany ,and fought a war on three fronts successfully! Revolution was on the rise nevertheless in Russia ,and beginning in 1917 with the end of the war Rasputin a political leader found himself gaining most of the political power. However that wouldn’t be anything but short lived with the rise of exiled party leader Vladimir
Lenin who was in Finland and now deciding the framework of the Communist Party! The Bolsheviks led by Vladimir adopted the name “Communist Party” which then led to a bloody battle between the Red Army and what then was known as the White Army or the Bourgeoisie! Enter Joseph Stalin in the late twenties reforming the
Soviet Socialist Republic into an industrial and political power on the world scene! Russia biblically is mentioned in the Bible twice, first in the Old Testament prophecies of Ezekiel! Secondly in Revelations!
Ezekiel 38:2 “Son of man, set thy face against Gog, the land of Magog, the chief prince of Meshech and Tubal, and prophesy against him, “
In this passage we find the Lord telling the Prophet Ezekiel to immediately rebuke Russia bringing upon them the hook( Ezekiel 38:4), also known as Magog (Russia) and it’s leader also known
as Gog (Vladimir Putin!) The Lord then goes on to explain in the next versus that in the later days he will drag Russia into a battle “Hook in it’s jaw” with a great company of men who will encompass Israel! Russia is shown no mercy from the Lord
early on ,what we see in Russia today is a Nation which is sometimes refers to itself as a “Godless Nation!” Russia has a myriad of splintered groups of religion, with all forms of Christianity, Judaism, Catholicism and Islamic factions within it’s boundaries. Nevertheless a nation itself that never aspired to any of these in particular!
It’s newest leader President Vladimir Putin made the comment this October 07 “I never make promises, the last promises I made were to my mother!” Let’s face it that is about as close to saying “You can’t take anything I say at face value ,because you can never be sure what I will do!” Putin made that statement in Tehran (Iran) to a group of reporters who were questioning him over the new Iranian reactor in Bashir! Funny thing about the
Russian Bear visiting Iran also known as “Persia” in the bible ,Vladimir Putin is fulfilling God’s prophecy
just three passages later in Ezekiel 38:5 God tells Ezekiel who is coming for Israel when he hooks the leader
of Magog in the jaw!
Ezekiel 38:5 “Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet:”
You guessed it Ezekiel prophesied more than two thousand six hundred years ago that a King of Persia would be drawn into the fray! The Russian Bear grabs onto a Persian King how prophetic!
Could it be Muhamoud Ahmadinejade the President of Iran! (Persia) The answer is yes ,and I will explain a bit later why him and why now?
Iran or the Islamic Republic of Iran is the modern day equivalent of what we would call “The Great Medio-Persian Empire” .
In Ezekiel’s time Iran would have been part of what we call the Median Empire which began in 3200 BCE.
The Medes themselves are credited
with the founding of Iran as an empire! They would find much success and cultural growth with the rise of “Cyrus the Great”, and “Darius the Great!” Conquering much of the lands, and holding most of ancient areas of Mesopotamia! When it came to the Greeks of Ancient times however, the Persians suffered both losses on land and at sea in several battles! Later being forced to retreat from parts of Europe! However with the rise of the Roman Empire they prospered culturally and steadily increased their boundaries ! Raising up four Iranian dynasties, and the fourth was to be ruled by a powerful king. The Fourth Iranian Empire under Adashir I was victorious and ruthless towards Rome as he battled oppression from the Romans in what
we have come to understand was the Sassinid Dynasty! (224-651AD) The Persians also opened themselves up to trade with China at this time and other surrounding countries during this dynasty! Next came the rise of the Safavid Dynasty in 652 -1501 A.D. which would usher in the Islamic Golden Age! The Arabs would liberate Baghdad at this time and free up Damascus from the Umayyads! The rise of the Safavid Dynasty occurs close to the time of the rise of Muhammad the Prophet around (632 A.D.) Muhammad was the founder today of modern Islam ,and is thought of as God’s last messenger in Islam! Predating, Islam a type of religion called Zoroastrianism existed for what is most of Mesopotamia area and it’s teachings also defied Judaism and modern Christianity! Zoroastrianism today however holds very few total members about 200,000 in what is now modern Iraq and Iran!
Iran or the Modern day Republic of Iran has embraced Islam and remained a regional power simply by holding vast amounts of oil reserves which funds them financially!
Iran maintained a moderate military surplus after the long battles it has endured with Saddam Hussein (Iraq) ,before his overthrow in 2003 and death in 2006! Iran produces oil for both the Russians and the Chinese along with the entire world market!
Today, October 18th 2007 the leaders of Azerbaijan and Russia ,Turkic and Iran meet to discuss the Caspian Sea area with
regards to vast oil supplies and planned oil pipelines by the United States with other cooperating nations!
What you didn’t see in the news was a UN resolutions condemning Iran’s pursuit of Nuclear Weapons. (Russia should be trying to stop Iran from the acquisition of Nukes!) The reason why they don’t is because they are financially in alliance with Iran because of its oil and the building of it‘s power plants!
Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin
has twice times staved off any harsh resolutions handed down to the Persian King (Iran) by the Untied Nations with its major veto on sanctions! The world
is trying to get Iran to stop its Nuclear production of weapons grade materials! Russia however doesn’t seem so concerned! Vladimir Putin and M. Ahmadinejade now enter the biblical fold of Ezekiel’s prophecy! It seems now as if the Bear and the King are racing towards a partnership to achieve
Ezekiel’s prophecy and fulfill God’s word!
Two thousand years ago God told Ezekiel that we would have Persians (Iranians) and Russians expanded from the term Magog,
who would eventually seek out the demise of a nation! Israel is that nation ,but how could it be that a Prophet such as Ezekiel would have known that Israel would yet be a nation after it was destroyed in the seventh century! Taken captive by the Assyrians, Babylonians, Persians ,Greeks and Romans! Scattered by a vast number of ancient kings and thrust into the annals of time, and assimilated by the Ottoman Empire! The chances of a Jewish exodus of Arab lands and a return to what is described as second century kingdom with the renaming of it called “Israel” is pretty unique! I would say the odds of that happening by chance are 1,000,000 or more to 1. I count the name of Israel mentioned 70 times in the New Testament ,2301 times in the entire bible. To use it in regards to Prophecy which is what many Old Testament prophets did
would mean that if truly God was not for real they were taking a long shot at being correct about the future and bible prophecy! The claims such as this one
Ezekiel 28:25 “Thus saith the Lord GOD; When I shall have gathered the house of Israel from the people among whom they are scattered, and shall be sanctified in them in the sight of the heathen, then shall they dwell in their land that I have given to my servant Jacob.”
Or this one:
Hosea 1:11 “Then shall the children1121 of Judah and the children of Israel be gathered together, and appoint themselves one head, and they shall come up out of the land: for great shall be the day of Jezreel.” (the later days)
Or this one:
Ezekiel 34:13 “ And I will bring them out from the people, and gather them from the countries, and will bring them to their own land, and feed them upon the mountains of Israel by the rivers, and in all the inhabited places of the country. “
Or this one:
Ezekiel 37:21 “And say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, will take the children of Israel from among the heathen, whither they be gone, and will gather them on every side, and bring them into their own land:”
and this one:
Micah 2:12”`I will surely assemble, O Jacob, all of thee; I will surely gather the remnant of Israel; I will put them together as the sheep of Bozrah, as the flock in the midst of their fold: they shall make great noise by reason of the multitude of men.
The Book of Ezekiel was written in around 600 B.C as King Nebuchadnezzar had taken the Israelites into captivity,
A young man named Ezekiel son of Hilkiah becomes gifted with prophecy ,and he begins to prophecy what God has given him to say! Now Ezekiel was a slave in captivity and to make these prophecies from Babylon at this time in history was extremely odd! Ezekiel’s prophecies were of people, places and things that at the time didn’t really exist! I believe it was done so that we could be aware of things to come, call it a warning! The Medio-Persian Dynasties had not opened up trade routes with China until some eight hundred years later! Russia was nothing but scattered Nomadic tribes of wandering peoples, and no organizational Russian state was conceived until after
1380 A.D. some one thousand and nine hundred years after Ezekiel’s life would end!
Let’s look at this passage written by Ezekiel while powerful Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon was yet the most powerful king on the Earth!”
Ezekiel 38:15 And thou shalt come from thy place out of the north parts, thou, and many people with thee, all of them riding upon horses, a great company, and a mighty army:
Ezekiel 38:16 And thou shalt come up against my people of Israel, as a cloud to cover the land; it shall be in the latter days, and I will bring thee against my land, that the heathen may know me, when I shall be sanctified in thee, O Gog, before their eyes.”
Here Ezekiel makes a statement from God that a great army shall come from the North and cover the land. Surrounding Israel which had already ceased to exist! He said in the latter days of the world that a leader who we can assume is more powerful than Nebuchadnezzar would cover the earth(Europe, Iraq ,Iran, possibly Turkey with a huge army! This would mean that Nebuchadnezzar would not rule the this army and that his existing kingdom would be parted Such claims
in Ezekiel’s day could bring heresy! Not only that Israel had been decimated by
Assyria and Babylon and was in ruins. Ezekiel foreshadowed a new coming Israel and a world that would gather against her! Ezekiel prophesied a great “Northern Kingdom” with a huge army that at the time simply didn’t exist!
Russia is now rebuilding it’s military and is now the driving force in Asia
behind China in stockpiling it’s arsenal! Ezekiel’s prophecy fits here for Russia
it is becoming powerful and today it could bring a huge land invasion! Provided the United States was not the power behind Israel now! Ezekiel also prophesied
Persia (Iran) would be the next leader in the great company ahead of Turkey,
and possibly Egypt! Ezekiel could have said Persia would lead the invasion and he didn’t!
Why now and why Ahmadinejade and Putin? The answer is rather in depth
,but it is equally shattering both prophetically and biblically! It all starts with Israel
God’s people, and the promise! The passages I posted above of Ezekiel and Micah and Hosea all tell of a gathering of God’s remnant from around the world!
What we need to keep in the front of our thought is what is different about now rather than say 100 years ago prophetically speaking! Well Israel’s creation in 1948 fulfills
these prophecies of these three prophets of God! I could never say that before
1948 because it just wasn’t so before that time! So for the Bible to be correct we
needed these statements by Ezekiel, Micah and Hosea to be fulfilled to understand we were in the later days! (Ezekiel 38:16) Could any man before 1948 say that Armageddon or the end was near and be correct? Absolutely not if they were truly reading their bibles! Israel was missing ,and Russia had no real aspirations towards Iran as it was run by the foreign powers and occupied by the U.S. military after and during the second world war as an ally! Russia found itself
in an arms race that led to the “Cold War!” Then how could all these people around the turn of the century say the end was near! They couldn’t if they were reading the word of God! Ok, than how can we say when the end of the world and the Coming of Christ will be! Glad you asked! Israel’s creation is simply by all standards relating to prophecy the most spectacular fulfillment of God’s promises to his people in two thousand years behind the Coming of Christ who died on the cross for our sins! Simply put your bible just went Nuclear!
Fissionable material will be found now in the “Book of Matthew!”
Turn to chapter twenty four and to verse four to begin where our Lord Jesus Christ is asked!
What we should look for or be prepared to see before he comes?
Master “…..what shall be the sign of thy coming and of the end of the world?”
(Matthew24-3)
Now remember Ezekiel by God’s demand already has declared the creation of Israel will be and is in the later days!
Now Jesus begins his sermon by telling them of things to come wars, pestilence and famine!
Jesus tells them of False prophets ,rumors of wars, and nation rising against nation!
Jesus tells them that many shall be offended and brother shall be against brother!
Jesus tells them that many will be delivered up for persecution and he says earthquakes will be in diverse places!”
I know right now your thinking well those have all been problems in the world now and probably later! Anyone can say that and be correct about the times!
Well not exactly! The fact is there is something that Jesus said because he knew
that these signs could be interpreted incorrectly at any time in history according to a man’s interpretation!
Matthew 24:32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
What fig tree? What is this about fig tree and its branches? Well the creation of Israel is what scholars of the bible symbolically term as the birth of Israel and tender branches of the fig it‘s growth! Biblically Jesus choose to show us and his disciples that
Israel(the fig-tree) was going to grow after its creation(1948), but he would choose to use a parable to describe it in depth! (Matthew 24:3) Among all of Israel’s accomplishments non may be more perplexing than it’s cultivation of its soil with its high concentration of sodium. Israel has had many great successes in the areas of cultivation and farming! Israel’s rather barren soil in which most would assume nothing would grow is producing miraculously much more in the way of crops than it’s surrounding nations! Israel today produces 70% of it’s countries needs in areas of food consumption within its borders!
In an area that before was never really cultivated and remained barren after the growth of the industrialized age! The word fertile could well be used to describe its land! The neighboring Arab states have been witness to this and desire hugely to gather what they can either by acquisition of Israel’s territory politically or by means of Jihad! The areas now occupied outside Israel ,Judea and occupied
Palestinean lands are seemingly barren in comparison to Israel itself! Jesus
explains as did Ezekiel that both a time of rest (Summer) and a time of trouble (Warning of The Russian Bear and the Persian King) would ensue! Jesus said “when the branches are yet tender know that summer is nigh!” Ezekiel said in the Book of Ezekiel chapter 34 verse 13 ….that God would gather Israel…… and feed them…..!” Seems like this is what God has done and is doing now!”
What does any of this have to do with a Russian Bear and a Persian King?
Jerusalem (Israel) has been declared by the United Nations director Ban Ki Moon
as the single biggest problem the world faces today! Russia and Iran are both
against anything that provides Israel a break! Russia has sold high level weapon
surface to air missiles to Syria! (Israel vowed enemy) Iran has backed Israel’s latest worst enemy Hezzbollah in a guerrilla style war based out of Lebanon!
Russia, Syria ,Iran ,Spain, Turkey, Egypt ,Libya ,China do not view Israel as an ally and Iraq as much as they are Islamic territory or politically motivated by bribes and weapons sales care nothing for Israel! Having blocked any foreign sanctions against any country by the U.N. who would seek to build a military to oppose Israel!
The United Nations is fiercely anti-Semitic (Jewish) and will always decry the hurts of any retaliation by Israel upon those who would seek her destruction!
Russia politically and militarily now emboldens itself to military exercises with China( in the north western pacific) and builds Nuclear reactors for Iran!( at Bashir)
The world is now shaping up nicely to scripture in (Matthew 24:7) which aligns itself with the “parable of the fig tree!”( Matthew 24:33)!
Matthew 24:7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.”
The Russian Bear and the Persian King are on a collision course with the Nation of Israel.
Are these things happening now? Yes I would say so ,but what would be the trigger biblically? Lets look at these two passages where Christ tells that all the things he warned us would eventually happen have come to pass!
Matthew 24:33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.”
Israel at it’s creation branching out into a world that doesn’t seem to understand God’s law and his commands ,the world now finds itself opposed to Israel. Israel develops Nuclear Weapons and isolates itself among a league of Arab Nations! The world’s weather and geological might is beginning to unleash its might in devastating ways Tsunami’s, Earthquakes, Pestilences and Wars! Just as our Messiah declared!
The Russian Bear and the Persian King are posed for a season such as the one we find ourselves in now!
What then can I declare that would make anyone think they have lots of time! Nothing ,because of this next passage verse 34 the clincher!
Matthew 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.”

Do you think time is on your side? I remember as a young adult thinking that God could come at any moment, but now wasn’t that time! I knew little of the Bible and its prophecies! I figured that time was something I had ,and that a good God would somehow forgive me! I never truly sought out the Lord Jesus Christ to know him!
Frankly I knew about him I just didn’t know him, there is a major difference! I was correct that my God would save me, but it took me repenting of my sins and saying I will commit to you O’ Lord my life! For those of you who are yet under the wages of sin and it’s opposition to God think of what the cost may be? The Russian Bear is rising ,and the Persian King is taking his place beside the Bear! The fig tree is now bearing fruit and the world is looking mighty uncertain! Have you asked yourself why the things of this world wrench your heart and sicken the mind? I’ll tell you why because it’s rulers are in darkness and every tool
they have is meant for your personal bondage through sin. Liars ,adulterers, thieves
and lovers of themselves and the things in this world! These will not inherit the kingdom of God! Will you? |
