SUTHERLAND: Good bass fishing with a fair to good catfish bite. Mark Hughes, Ramona, caught the top cat at 46.7 pounds. Shawn McConaughey, North Park, caught a 16.6-pound cat. Ernie Klemm and Tony Macedo, Ramona, caught 10 cats totaling 54-0 with fish to 8-0 on mackerel and nightcrawlers at Mesa Grande. The lake is open Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. WOHLFORD: Some trout are still showing on Power Bait and Power Worms. Good bass fishing on plastic worms, crawdads, and crankbaits. Bone Vientgkham, Escondido, caught a 10-11 bass at Bass Point on a crawdad. Michael Mclernon, Oceanside, caught a 10-0 bass at the South Shore Rock Pile on a Reaper. Some catfish are also showing on mackerel and nightcrawlers. Catfish plants begin next week.

DIXON: The trout fishing was slow again this week. The bass bite has been good with a second spawn occurring. Plastics have been producing best for bass. Matt Weakley, Carlsbad, caught two bass over 12-12. Some bluegill are showing. The first catfish plant of the season went in this week and another is slated for next week. POWAY: Fair catfish action and a plant this week should help the bite. Mia Nitche, Poway, caught a 4-0 cat on a salmon egg by the fishing float. Some bass are also showing. John Kerr, Ramona, caught a 12-9 bas on a Senko at Boulder Bay. Night fishing will now be allowed on Friday and Saturday nights until 11 p.m. The lake is now open at 7a.m. Wednesday through Sunday. MORENA: Bass fishing slowed a bit this week but many fish are still showing on plastics, crawdads, and nightcrawlers. Cats have also been good on Power Bait and nightcrawlers. CUYAMACA: Trout, bass, and crappie are all good if you can find the fish. Andy Siegel caught a 3-8 rainbow on Power Bait at Lone Pine Tree. HENSHAW: Good fishing for catfish with a fair carp bite and some crappie showing. Carmen Loneku, San Diego, caught five cats and five carp with fish to 4-0 on jigs by the dock. Vern Kettler, La Mesa, caught two bass to 3-0, 12 crappie, and four catfish. He was fishing with jigs and worms at the dam. For information, call (760) 782-3501.
COLORADO RIVER
LAKE MEAD: Good fishing for stripers in Boulder Basin with fish to 10-0 report in an early morning bite on anchovies and nightcrawlers. Most 1-8 to 3-0. The largemouth bass bite has been good in the Overton Arm, at Fish Island, Eagle Valley and Echo Canyon. Carp slow. For more information, call Blue Lake Tackle at (702)4562-8299.
WILLOW BEACH: Good early morning action for rainbow trout. Willow Beach is being stocked with trout every Friday. Striper action remains fair. Jason Campbell, Las Vegas, caught a 16-0 striper using sardines at the mile marker 52. The trout plants on Friday's seem to turn the striper bite on in the plant area. LAKE MOHAVE: Good striper action, generally at night. Best bait for fish from 1-0 to 5-0 has been anchovies and squid. Anglers have reported good catfish action, also at night with a lot of fish to 7-0. Poor trout action and few largemouth bass at this time.
BELOW DAVIS DAM: Good striper action during the evening.
NEEDLES: Good striper bite on anchovies from the I-40 bridge to Laughlin from about 6 p.m. until dark on anchovies, cranks and swim baits. Fair largemouth bite.
TOPOCK MARSH: Fair catfish action on cut up anchovies with most fish from 2-0 to 3-0. Largemouth fair. For more information call (928) 768-2350.
HAVASU: The redear bite is reportedly good along the shorelines and the backs of the coves with fish to 1-8 reported on nightcrawlers. Very good action for the stripers around the main basin. Topwater lures are hauling fsih from 3-0 to 5-0. Largemouth bass fair in the cove mouths. Most smaller fish to 2-0. Pepe Beccafithi, Lake Havasu, caught a 10-0 striper using a topwater lures.
PARKER STRIP: No report.
BLYTHE: The catfish bite is good at night on live goldfish and bluegill. Bass fair to good in the backwaters on topwater baits early and late in the day. Stripers slow. Jess Faulkner, Ehrenberg, landed a 17-0 flathead. For information, call B&B Bait at (760) 921-2248.
PALO VERDE: Good catfish action both day and night. Bass bite is fair along the weed lines in the main river. Smallmouth bass good along the river banks and close to the rocks on spinnerbaits and topwater baits. Bluegill good throughout the day.
PICACHO AREA: Good bass and catfish action.
MARTINEZ LAKE AREA: Bass fishing is good in the river, especially using plastic crawdads. Anglers are pulling out 2-0 to 3-0 bass from the tules. Catfish are appearing all over. Good flathead action on live minnows in the big pools. Good bluegill action in all the backwaters, using mealworms and nightcrawlers. MITTRY LAKE AREA: Good bass and catfish action. Bluegill good.
YUMA AREA: Bass action good early mornings and late evenings spinnerbaits and topwater baits on fish from 2-0 to 5-0. Catfish bite remain good at night with a lot of 10 to 30 pound flatheads on live bluegill and goldfish. Channel cats, averaging up to 5-0, are biting on chicken liver and nightcrawlers. COLORADO RIVER FLOWS, LAKE ELEVATIONS: This week's projected flow releases should average (in cubic feet per second): Glen Canyon 13,300, Hoover 18,000, Davis 19,800, Parker 12,600. Last Friday, flow at Yuma Fourth Avenue Bridge was 1,620 cfs, and 1,800 cfs at the Northerly International Boundary.
Projected lake elevations for Saturday (and change from two weeks ago in parenthesis) are as follows: Havasu 448.3 (down .7), Mohave 642.2, (same), Mead 1,160.2 (down 1.4), Powell 3,643.47, (down .98).

LOWER DESERT WATERS
SALTON SEA: The corvina bite remains good early and late in the day. The fish are showing all around the sea, but the east shoreline from North Shore to Bombay Beach has been the best area. The fish are from 8-0 to 16-0, occasionally bigger, and showing on live tilapia, mudsuckers, and swimbaits. The fish have mostly been shallow, in five to eight feet of water. Preston Dungey, Salton Sea Beach, landed a 14-11 corvina using tilapia as bait. Rick Hogeland, Mike Taix, and Art Stanman, all Burbank, had limits of corvina to 15-0 fishing off Mecca Beach and Salt Creek on swimbaits. Harold Henriksen, Riverside, had a limit of corvina to 15-0 fishing from a float tube at Salt Creek with swimbaits. WEIST LAKE: The catfish are biting in the deep areas, specifically near the bushes. Best time for catfish action is early morning and early afternoon on fish from 1-0 to 5-0. EASTERN SIERRA

BRIDGEPORT AREA: Bridgeport Reservoir is good. Both upper and lower Twin Lakes are also good. Jay Elmgren, Fullerton, caught a 6-12 rainbow using a gold Rapala at the upper Twin Lakes. From Lower Twin, Doug Pach, Redondo Beach, caught a 5-6 rainbow on a Rapala, while Bob Lutz, Palm Desert, had a 4-12 `bow. Good action at the Virgina Lake, especially Little Virginia with the bite best early and late in the day on 1-0 class fish. JUNE LAKE AREA: June, Gull, Silver and Grant all good with the best rainbow bite in the morning until 11 a.m. with the fish averaging about a pound. Backcountry lakes also good, especially Parker and Walker. Rush Creek fair. For more information, contact Ernie's at (760) 648-7756.
MAMMOTH AREA: Crowley Lake is good with Sandy Point, McGee Bay, Hilton Bay, and Alligator Point all good in the morning. Lots of fish to 2-0 with a few bigger. Perch are starting to show in the north end of the lake on jigs. All the Mammoth Lakes are good with regular plants. Twin Lakes also seeing a good surface bite most mornings. Hot Creek good, but windy most afternoons. Convict Lake good for pan-sized trout. Mike Malick, Temecula, caught a 4 1/2-pound rainbow on a Super Duper. Rock Creek drainage good.
BISHOP AREA: Good to excellent trout action throughout the Bishop Creek drainage. All the lakes are stocked on a weekly basis, providing good action for anglers. Sabrina, North Lake, and South Lake all good in an early morning and late evening bite. The lower Owens remains tough, and Pleasant Valley Reservoir is just fair. The Owens Gorge is still good. WESTERN SIERRA
ISABELLA: The trout are very active along the dam in the mornings with fish to 2-8 reported. The catfish good in Pine Cove and other coves on shad in the early morning. KERN RIVER: Upper river is still fair to good for planted fish, while flows are up in the lower river (740 to 1,025 cfs this past week), still some fairish bass action in the bigger pools. Anthony Leary, Bakersfield landed a 4-12 trout at Democrat Hot Springs.
AQUEDUCT AT BAKERSFIELD: Good catfish action using shad and crickets. Bluegill are good throughout the aqueduct on wax worms. Mercardo Sosa, Bakersfield, landed a 25-0 catfish using shad. CENTRAL COAST LAKES
SAN ANTONIO: Good smallmouth bass action during the mornings, especially in 10 to 15 feet of water. The crappie are slow, but a few are showing along the shoreline brush and vegetation, with some to 2-0. Improving striper action on the south end. For information, call (805) 472-2818.
SANTA MARGARITA: The catfish are biting near the dam during the early evenings with some quality cats from 10 to 21 pounds reported. Good trout bite, mostly in deeper water. Bass fair at the narrows, dam and marina area. Crappie and bluegill are slow. Eric Holder, Santa Margarita, caught a 3-8 largemouth bass between the narrows and marina.
