The War

Howie sat on his chair thinking. Yesterday they called war upon the peace full land of 'N Synca. He sighed, fighting them would be like fighting a duplicate. They were just as strong and powerful, maybe more. The treaty was broken when the five monarchs of 'N Synca found out about the conspiracy the Backstreetboys were planning. They were going to terminate them from the inside out, but it leaked and now both nations were in a state of confusion. Howie was the only one in the five opposing such ruthless planning, but the four felt they must stay true to them. The last thing they need is a traitor, but Howie didn't like this one bit.

JC from N Sync became furious, there were only a handful of times when he became this angered. He knocked things off the shelf near him. Susan jumped. She quickly tried soothing him. Justin reported to his quarters immediately. Justin tried staying calm, it was hard for the five of them.
"Justin, I've been thinking, we should join an alliance with 98degrees. They've been holding a grudge against the Backstreetboys for a long time. Their almost willing to, they've enjoyed our gifts and offered their devotion." He straighten his midnight blue button down suit. It had a white stripe from his left shoulder to his waist. Susan left, knowing it was important.
"It doesn't matter. With or without them we'll fight." Justin grunted.
"But we have a better chance with them."
"We're meeting, we'll discuss this further there." JC followed him, he wore a blue suit with a white sash. All their uniforms were of the midnight blue and white, the colors of N Synca. But all five were different as each personality. Chris sat in the large leather chair. His suit is white and has a blue star on his left breast.
"Joey and Lance are coming soon." They appeared shortly. Each seated a personalized chair, their named printed in the handsome leather.
"I say we attack. Kill all of them." Justin said abruptly, he felt strongly war was the only way.
"We can't do that, what about our people. They'll be terribly unhappy if you start a war." Lance said logically. JC spotted Susan walking down the hall. He could make out a carriage waiting for her. 'Where could she be going?' he asked himself. The four yelled at each other for plans.
"Please." JC said firmly, the four stopped. "We must wait before we decide anything. This time is crucial, it'll determine the outcome of this nasty battle." The four nodded in agreement, they still had their own opinions but what JC said sounded right.

"No! We can't! What if that fails, we won't have an army anymore!" Kevin's voice rang loudly. Nick rolled his eyes.
"It will work! I know we can do this!" Nick yelled.
"Let's just fight the five, not their people, I'm sure we'll kill them, and when we do, we'll leave the people in chaos and annihilate them." Brian’s suggestion made sense.
"How will we get them to come?" AJ asked. The five wore suits made of the colors purple and red.
"We'll meet the at our border, fight to the death." Kevin grew an evil grin.
"Send the message, prepare to fight." Nick punched the air in happiness. Howie shook his head, they've always tried to be our friends. AJ told the guard to send a message to the other five. Kevin and Nick left to train, they need to be their fittest.

"What? Are they stupid?" Joey yelled. He read the message again. JC stood next to a big window looking over the city. Everything and everyone acted like nothing matter while the five were in a terrible state. His eyes turned to the flag, everyone knew the blue stood for courage and white for purity. Soon the purity of this strong nation will be diluted with the future blood loss. And all because they didn't like us.
"We better agree, I'd rather not put our citizens lives in danger." Chris said solemnly, his thoughts were the same as JC's. The day couldn't get any worse.

Howie looked at the food. His mind raced, he didn't want to kill them. He felt sad and miserable. Moans came from AJ's room. Howie ignored them, he watched the roasted turkey in front of him. Nick and Brian came in laughing. They were sweaty from working out.
"We're going to beat those 'N Sucker's asses!" Nick gave a thumbs up to Howie. AJ came out of his room wearing a robe. He smiled at Howie. A woman came out and left, her hair ruffled and her clothes wrinkled. Howie waited till she was out of earshot.
"Wasn't that Susan? JC's girlfriend?" AJ grew a wicked grin.
"Yes. I decided to attack the inside. Plus she was lonely." Howie's eyes studied his own hands, he knew all this was wrong, but it was too late to fix. AJ left to start working out again.

JC sat down at his chair, Susan ran in the building.
"Susan?" JC asked getting out of his chair. Susan stopped, she was an absolute mess. "Where were you?"
"Oh, running errands." Susan lied.
"This late at night?" JC grew suspicious and knew something was going on.
"Yeah, I had to run all over, I'm tired." Susan headed in the direction of the South Wing, where her room was located.
"Good, I'll join you." JC needed a release from all the stress and some kind love could just be the trick.
"No, not tonight, I'm real tired." Susan left. JC sat back at his chair.
"Boy that was bad." Carla said behind him.
"Carla what should I do?"
"I don't know, just focus on the battle. It's important."
"I don't want to fight."
"I know you don't but they," She pointed out the window to the busy city, "need you."

It was battle day, harsh winds whipped around the ten men. Five on each side of the boundary, standing strong and tall. Nick charged at Justin and the other's followed. Poor Chris, with a hard blow from Kevin, he was on the ground slowly dying. Joey, with a long sword, hit Kevin on the back of head. Sadly, the elders of the group were the first to go. The rest battled on. Howie and Lance both hesitated on their moves. JC finally hit Brian hard enough and sent him to the ground. AJ pried away from Joey and yelled:
"Boy that Susan's really good in bed!!" JC became infuriated and charged for him. He stopped and fell to the ground, a sword sticking out of his back, the one belonging to Nick. Nick smiled viciously.
"Nooo!!" Justin yelled and beheaded Brian, he pulled out a small dagger from his boots and went after Nick. Nick spun him around and stabbed him with his own dagger. Blood poured from Justin's sweet lips. AJ laughed with great cruelty, Nick joining in. Nick's laughter cease and AJ watched in horror as a tip of a sword poked through Nick's chest. Joey stood behind him with a revengeful look on his face. They were the only two left standing. Nick gasped once for air. AJ picked up his sword and grunted as he ran for Joey. They both took aimless hits to each other, so full of hate, they brought themselves to the ground. Joey struggled, he turned around to see AJ standing with his sword pointed down at him. Joey closed his eyes and prepared for AJ to kill him there. He heard a clank and AJ was on the ground. He was stabbed in the heart. He looked to see JC was the one to do it, he grabbed his side and fell to the ground. JC looked around himself, tears producing in the brim of his eyes.
"I never asked for this." He yelled to all the dead bodies, the tears streaming wildly down his bloody face. Struggling hard, he made it again to his feet.
"But we're alive." JC fell to the ground. Joey ran over to him. JC was clearly in a lot of pain.
"No, I don't want to be alive. Look at me Joseph, finish me now." Tears formed in Joey's eyes.
"I can't-I can't do that to you." Joey cried.
"Please." JC reached for a sword nearby. It was both bloody and dirty, as were the dead men lying around them. JC pressed sword in Joey's hands.
"JC, don't-" JC gave him a look that gave Joey the courage to take it. JC sat up, Joey let a few more tears fall down his face. Joey got a good grip on the sword and with one swift motion, he plunged the sword into JC's heart. From the force, JC fell back. Coughing, he barely made out his last words.
"Thank you." He died a few seconds later. Joey, himself, fell to the ground, crying.

He must of passed out because he awoke to a different setting than the one he saw before. He woke up in a small cot in the corner. The diluted smell of stew filled what seemed like a small cottage. A humble old lady was cooking at a fire nearby.
"Where am I?"
"You are safe." Her old voice said. She was a stout lady, in her late fifties, a good estimate. She had kind eyes and smiled at Joey. "So you won the battle, ey?"
"I must have." Joey said mindlessly, the shock still kept him from believing what happened not long ago.
"Well, get your rest now. The war is all over." She said, Joey obediently laid down on the small cot.
He drifted into a dream not long after. He watched the battle again in his mind, tormenting him as he killed JC. But one part he did not remember, he kept seeing a silhouette of a woman. He woke up in a heavy sweat. The old woman was not any where near so he decided to look around. He went outside, the moon was still out, giving him enough light to see a stream nearby. He took off his clothes and bathed quietly. He change quickly and headed to the house quickly. He saw a body moving, the old woman's. He opened the door, expecting to see the silver hair of a kind soul but found a wave a brown hair.
"Hello?" She turned around, she had recognizable green eyes. "Carla? I thought-" She smiled at him.
"I died, yes I did, but I'm here now."
"Where's the old woman?"
"Oh, she was...help, you must be wondering why exactly am I here."
"Yes I am."
"Well, seeing is that JC's gone and you need my guidance, I come forth to you today on this still night." She did a small bow, paying respects to Joey.
"What? JC?"
"Oh yes, I was guiding him, now he's surrounded by the one he loves the most in the world. He's very happy now."
"Who is that?"
"You'll find out. Come, give me a hug. I want to prove I am as real as the moon." Joey took deliberate steps and gave her a hug. Sure enough, she was real or he wasn't real. Whatever the case maybe, it didn't matter, she was with him now.
"Did all that happen yesterday?"
"Yes."
"I killed JC." She nodded and left him alone to weep. She saw JC walking towards her.
"Hi." He waved. "How is he?"
"Upset. You shouldn't have made him kill you."
"He'll understand. That's why I made you help him, you made me understand."
"But that's different. You didn't kill me, it just happened. I could control whether that man would pull out a knife and stab me. You made him kill you." JC bowed his head.
"I didn't want to live, my life was slowly falling apart. I knew then there had to be something better than that, and there is."
"I know, he'll make it. He was the strongest out of all you, that's why I protected him."
"Wise choice. I would have been dead by now if he kept me alive." JC said plainly, he nodded to her and vanished. She heard a light slumber, she figured he cried himself to sleep.

"What should I do now?" Joey asked her the next morning. It was difficult question, but she prepared the answers that night.
"Mourn, that's why you're here. To mourn then continue life without them. Gather the pieces and put them together."
"I can't go on..." Joey trailed.
"Yes you can, they need you to. I'll help you."
From then, Joey built stability. He was able to cope with the death of his closest friends, especially JC's death. Carla knew his day of leaving her was soon. Joey felt his time to leave and one day he came back to his land. Five years changed a lot in the lands. They calmly tried to get along without their rulers but it was still chaos. This is the first time ever where a group of people wasn't there to help them. People recognized Joey. They thought he was dead, amazed by their returning ruler, they bowed, some cried. It was a memorial day. That day became known as the land's birthday and it was celebrated every year as a remarkable day where their gods blessed them. They believe Joey was chosen and they cherished him by making him their emperor. His offspring were treated as they inherited his powers.

Joey looked out the window. His twenty year old son stepped in the room. They embraced tenderly, they haven't seen each other in a few years. Joey's son decided to join the army and was back for a short vacation.
"Father, how have you been?"
"Fine, son we need to talk."
"Sure," They sat down on a velvet couch, "go ahead."
"I know I'm dying soon, you being my eldest child, promise me, when you inherit the thrown, you won't let the past repeat itself."
"What are you talking about?"
"Long before I came to thrown, this land was divided. Our half of the land was ruled by five of us as theirs was ruled by five. They despised us so much, they called war upon us. We didn't want to fight or endanger the life of our citizens so we came to an agreement. Only us ten would battle at our border. I was the only survivor." Joey was silent, he tried to hold in the tears. His son couldn't say anything, he felt his dad's grieving.
"Promise me this before I die." Joey said hoarsely.
"I promise you father." He nodded and his son left him there. He moved to the bed and slowly climbed in, he sat up thinking. JC, Chris, Lance, and Justin surrounded his bed.
"Hey old man!" Chris said smiling. "Who knew you'd out live me for sixty years?"
"Well, I'm on my way." Joey smiled.
"I never got to thank you." JC said. "Joey, you don't know how much that meant, I'm sorry for all the pain, but thank you. I truly thank you." Joey nodded and laid down. He fell into a sleep that he would never wake up from.
