JC looked at the small picture. It was of him and his wife. She had a precious face, like of one a porcelain doll. They were a young couple, but they've been together for the longest time. He loved her so much and Christmas was nearing. He wanted to give her something special, he knew what it was. A charm, simple yet elegant, it was a gift long ago by her grandmother, on who she adored. A stroll down some shops, she came across an antique shop. There was an beautiful gold chain, old in its age, perfect for the charm. It was too expensive. JC quickly made a note to give it to her one day. It made him sad to think he couldn't afford such a wonderful thing for his wife whom he cherished more than the world. He looked outside, as soon as his eyes reached the magnificent machine, he grew an idea. As fast as could, he headed to the nearest place he could sell his car. The car he loved to show off, a red convertible. His prized possession. He sold the car and bought the chain.
She came walking in the door, tired from her day's work. She greeted JC in her usual pleasant way. It was Christmas eve and the only person she wanted to be with was her husband. She smiled at him, her brown eyes were clearly excited.
"Hun, I got you a gift." JC felt a strange jubilance throughout his body.
"What JC?"
"This." He pulled out a box, revealing the chain she admired.
"Wow, it's beautiful." She lightly touched it afraid it might break.
"The charm your grandmother gave you will look absolutely gorgeous on it." Her expression changed, she slumped back in the couch.
"I have a gift for you too." She disappeared and came back with fabric so soft. "It's for your car, I thought upholstery would look nice in it. I know you love it so much." JC shrank silently.
"I sold the car." He said quietly.
"Oh, I sold the charm." When she said that, they embraced each other tenderly.
"This is the best Christmas ever." He whispered in her ear, holding her gently.
"Mine too."
"Did I mention you're the best gift ever?" He asked quietly.
"All the time, and you'll always be mine, I love you." She kissed him lightly on the cheek.
"I love you too." He stroked her cheek, her eyes had an undeniable twinkle that made him fall in love all over again. They spent Christmas in each other's arms, nothing could take away the strong love they had for each other. |
