**+Chapter+7+**
Melanie and Jessica were getting ready to go to the club, and Melanie just realized that she should call JC and the guys to see if they wanted to come. She called JC's number and got no answer. She looked at her phone like it was some kind of foreign object.
"What happened?" Jessica wondered.
"They aren't answering." She answered sadly. "I think I just screwed up with Justin. I think I just lost him."
"Don't say that. He is probably still thinking about you like you are. But this is telling you that you need to make a decision and fast." Jessica advised. "I am telling you this from my heart and as a friend take my advice, please."
"I will. I am going to break up with Mitchell tonight and I will call Justin and tell him everything." Melanie smiled. "I am going to tell him that he is the one for me."
Jessica nodded and changed into her outfit for the evening. She wore a leopard print tube top dress that came just above her knee, with single strap black shoes. Melanie wore a maroon sleeveless shirt with a zebra print skirt that came just above her knees, with black dressy flip-flops. Jessica's hair was let down and Melanie's was let down and straightened.
"Well are you ready?" Jessica looked herself and Melanie over in the mirror and nodded approvingly.
"Yeah I am ready." She sighed, and grabbed her purse. They walked downstairs and into the living room where Melanie's parents were sitting. "Bye mom, bye dad." She kissed them on the cheek and started to make her way to the garage.
"Bye honey, have a good time." Jeff called back.
"I will." She answered and the two girls left the house. Melanie drove to the teen club and they went inside to see that all of their friends were there. "Is there something you aren't telling me Jess?" she smiled, greeting all her friends.
"Well yeah, Mitchell is throwing you a surprise party upstairs. I wasn't suppose to tell you so act surprised." Jessica said sheepishly. She was never good at keeping secrets from Melanie.
"That's okay, because I have a surprise for him anyway." Melanie smiled at the thought and went upstairs. Jessica followed her into the dark room, and suddenly the light came on. All of Melanie's friends jumped up, yelling "Surprise!"
"Oh wow." She exclaimed with a smiled. "Thanks guys." She spotted Mitchell and went over to him. "Was this your idea?" she smirked, playing it cool until she got ready to tell him.
"Yes it was. Happy Birthday, Mel." He kissed her and took her hand. "I have one more present for you." He whispered in her ear and led her into a private room. Jessica eyed them strangely as she danced with her friend Joel.
"What is it?" Melanie smiled, walking into the room, and hearing the door lock behind her. She spun around and saw Mitchell standing there smiling slyly. "Um
Mitchell
I don't think we should do this."
"What makes you think I was going to have sex with you?" he laughed. Melanie was brought aback by his rude remark. "I would never have sex with YOU."
"Okay, what is your deal? Why are you acting like this?"
"I don't want to see you anymore
you are too boring for my life. I needed someone who could give me the pleasure that I need in so many words." He confessed.
"Are you cheating on me?" she asked, feeling the tears in the back of her eyes. "Because if you are I want to know NOW!"
"Yes, you aren't my type of girl and I need someone that is actually someone instead of some pretty body. That's what I fell for
your body. Then I realized that you were nothing but a shy little person that doesn't deserve to be in our crowd. You belong with the nobody's like your friend Jessica." He said coldly.
The tears were now spilling over as his words hit her like a bullet to the heart. Even though she didn't have the feelings that she thought she had for him. It hurt her more than ever to hear him say those harsh words to her face. She approached him, and slapped him across the face and walking towards the door. Mitchell grabbed her arm to stop her.
"Where do you think you are going?" he hissed.
"Out of here and away from you!" she spat out and shook him off of her. She ran out of the room and didn't catch the smile spread on Mitchell's face. She ran out of the club and slumped down on the ground. Tears of anger, hurt and most of all betrayal streamed down her cheeks, leaving a trail of mascara. She couldn't believe after all the times she didn't kiss Justin or give in to him, Mitchell was going behind her back with some other girl. Now her dream was becoming a realization to her. In so many ways, she has lost the one that would truly care for her. And that hurt her more than anything.
"Melanie?" a familiar voice spoke out, making her look at who it was. Jessica was standing over her, concern filling her eyes. "What happened?"
"I can't believe I could be so stupid to go out with him. He cheated on me, Jess. He used me because of my body. That's all he cared about, not me. Again I was judged on the outside and not on the inside. I am so stupid, and I lost Justin because of it." she rambled, crying into her hands.
Jessica kneeled down beside Melanie, pulling her into a hug. "It's not too late to get Justin, you know?"
"Jess, I lost him when I pushed him away the last time. I lost him for good and I know it. How can I forgive myself for not listening to you or him? I was blind to see that Mitchell was doing this to me and didn't give a damn about me." She looked into Jessica's eyes and saw the hope that was evident in them. Maybe there was a way to get Justin back, but she knew she was gonna have to work at it.
"Let's get you home." She took the keys from Melanie and drove her home.
"I don't want to go home." Melanie spoke up as they were on their way to her house. "I want to go somewhere else."
"Where?" Jessica glanced over at her friend.
"Turn here." She instructed and Jessica turned where she was told. They ended up on the beach. Jessica stopped at the edge of the water and looked at Melanie.
"Why did you want to come here?"
"Because this is the place me and Justin cuddled together." She smiled and got out of the car. She walked in the sand to the waves. Before getting in, she took her shoes off and got into the water.
'At least this gets her mind off of that asshole.' Jessica realized and sat down in the sand. Melanie ran up on shore and sat down next to Jessica. "I want you to call Justin when we go to your house."
"How? I don't know where he is and he didn't give me his number." Melanie looked at her friend. "And JC never gave me his number either."
"Well then I have a solution." Jessica pulled out a slip of paper from her purse. "This might help you."
"What is it?" Melanie took the paper and looked at it. "Oh no you didn't?" she looked at Jessica and smiled. "Thanks. I will call him then."
"That's better." Jessica smiled and pulled her into a hug. "I will be with you every step of the way. I promise."
"Thank you so much." Melanie smiled.
**
"Man, are you going to call her or what? I think she should have the right to know that we had to leave sooner than we planned." JC told Justin. "Please call her. She's probably worried sick about you."
Justin stared at the phone, ignoring JC. "But remember? She acts like she doesn't want to talk to me, so why should I call her and get rejected for the millionth time?"
"Because you love her." JC pointed out. "I can see it that you do."
Justin looked at JC, a little surprised that he knew. "That obvious huh?"
"Yes it is, so please call her. Or I will." JC took the phone.
"Will you? Tell her that I am thinking about her, but I just need some time to think of what I want to do." Justin pleaded with his friend. "Please."
"Okay." JC huffed and dialed Melanie's number. "Is Melanie there?" he asked as he heard the male voice answer the phone.
"No, she is out for the evening, can I take a message?"
"Yes, can you tell her that JC called and that she can call me at (now I would be one lucky person to have his number, but I'm not so there). Thanks."
"Okay I will see to it that she gets the message." Jeff said and hung up. JC sighed and hung up. Justin looked at him.
"So? Where is she?"
"She is probably out celebrating her birthday. You know it was today?"
"Yeah I knew." Justin sighed.
**+Chapter+8+**
Melanie dropped Jessica off at her house, because she needed some time alone to think. When she got home her father greeted her. "So how was the party?"
"You knew about it?" Melanie asked softly, feeling the tears in the back of her eyes.
"Yes, what's wrong?"
"Mitchell has been cheating on me and didn't care about me just my body." She admitted sadly, the tears now spilling over. "I can't believe that I could be so stupid, dad."
"It's going to be okay, honey. It just wasn't meant to be for you and Mitchell and I'm sorry that you had to learn that the hard way." he reassured her, hugging her tightly. "Someone called for you."
"Who was it?" she looked up at her father.
"JC." he smiled. "He called and said that you can reach him at this number." He handed her the slip of paper with his number on it. She smiled at her father and ran up to her room to call him. She had to talk to JC maybe even Justin. She closed her door and grabbed her phone, dialing the number.
"Hello, JC's phone. Justin speaking." His melodramatic voice answered into the phone. Melanie was speechless. She wanted to say something, but nothing came out. "Hello? Hello?"
She couldn't talk to him, not now. She hung up the phone and sighed frustratingly. "Damn it." She cursed. The phone rang, snapping her out of her thoughts. 'What if its Justin? What am I going to say?' she thought, but took the chance to talk to him. "Hello?"
"Um did somebody from this number just call me?"
"Not that I know of, what is your name?" she asked, trying to act calm.
"JC."
"Oh my god, JC. I thought you were Justin," Melanie sighed in relief. "I'm sorry, but he answered your phone and I
cracked. I couldn't find the words to speak to him."
"Well it's okay. He just thought it was some prank caller. So what's up? Sorry I didn't call you and tell you that we left, but Johnny got us out of there before we could say goodbye."
"It's okay. Where are you?"
"In Orlando, but we are planning on going back to New York when we get a vacation. And that is coming up next week."
"Great!" she said excitedly. "So
how is he?"
"He's holding up. You?"
"Well I just got dumped the hard way by Mitchell." She admitted.
"What? How?"
"He threw a surprise party for me at this teen club and told me there that he was cheating on me, and that he only used me because of my body. I feel so deprived and
"
"Melanie
I'm so sorry." He said sadly into the phone.
"Don't be, it's not your fault that this happened. I found out that he wasn't the one for me and I had to see that the hard way. But now I know what I need and that's
Justin." she admitted.
"But you know that he needs time right now. You rejected him a lot and that takes a hard affect on a guy, especially Justin. But I guarantee that he won't shut you out of his life for good. He lo-
I mean, he likes you a lot and he doesn't want to lose a friendship that has sparked between you and him."
Melanie didn't notice his slip up and smiled. "Justin is standing next to you isn't he?"
"Yes he is, and it's annoying right now." JC laughed. "But I have to go. I will call you before we go back."
"Okay see you then. Bye." She said and hung up. She smiled and thought of what she was going to say to Justin when he came.
**
The weekend went by too fast for Melanie. She dreaded this day that she had to face all her friends and the people who stabbed her in the back at school. Jessica walked beside Melanie as everyone stared and whispered something about her. She went up to her locker and closed her eyes tightly. Jessica placed a comforting hand on her shoulder so that she knew she wasn't leaving her side.
"It will be okay, Mel." She whispered. Avery Majors and her crowd came up to Melanie and Jessica, laughing. Melanie turned around and glared at her. "What the hell do you want? Haven't you and your crowd done enough?"
"So I heard about your party. Was it everything you expected it to be?" Avery laughed. "I wanted to come and let you congratulate me and Mitchell's new relationship."
"Just get out of my face before I do something that I will seriously regret." Melanie warned through clenched teeth.
"What are going to do? Go and run to your teen idol for help? Yeah I bet he would help you out with your problems." Avery laughed. "Well it was nice having you in our crowd while it lasted, NOT!" she laughed and walked off with her friends.
Melanie stood in the middle of the hall, tears streaming down her face. She clenched her fists at her sides and screamed at the top of her lungs, making everyone stop and look at her. "I want everyone to know that I am a real person just like the rest of you. But some people I make an exception for who don't treat people with the respect that they deserve. I didn't want to be apart of the 'in' crowd in the first place, but my insecurities got the better of me and I made the biggest mistake of my life. Can't you see that? I am a somebody
more then they will ever be." She pointed to Avery and her friends. "They think they are somebody, but they haven't seen how they act. They only care about themselves and don't give a damn about people such as myself. They used me because I lost weight. They didn't get to know the real me and see that I am a normal fun loving person. I hope they have that guilt with them forever. To know that they are a nobody until they can treat people with respect and stop acting like their head is up their asses all the time."
Jessica stood off to the side, silently cheering Melanie on. There was a moment of silence until the group of students in the hall started cheering for Melanie. Avery and her friends sneered and walked away from the scene. Melanie smiled and felt relieved that she finally got that off her chest. It felt like a large amount of weight was taken off her shoulders. Jessica pulled her into a hug and congratulated her on finally speaking what was on her mind.
Ever since that moment in the hall, Melanie has been getting cheered for because of her bravery that no one has witnessed, not even Jessica. She went home and wanted to call JC about what her day was like, but left that for when they were coming back. Her parents smiled strangely at her as she came into the living room.
"What?" she looked at them oddly. "What did I do?"
"Nothing
but we heard about your speech today in school." Her mother, Marion commented. "I thought that was the smartest thing you have ever done and I am proud to call you my daughter." She said, hugging Melanie. "There is someone here to see you." She whispered into her ear.
"Who is it?" Melanie wondered.
"Outside in the backyard." Jeff informed, smiling. Melanie smiled brightly and ran outside. There swinging on the tire swing was someone she longed to see. His golden locks glowed in the sunlight like a halo and his blue eyes sparkled the moment she came outside.
"Justin
" she smiled. He stood up and approached her slowly. She wanted to hold him in her arms and make the pain go away, but she stood her ground and let him make that decision. "What-what are you doing here?"
"I had to come and see you." He said softly. That soft voice that Melanie always found herself going weak at the knees for. "I heard what happened and I didn't want you to be alone."
"I thought you were back in Orlando. You just left Saturday."
"Well I decided to take my vacation a little earlier than the others." He smiled, standing in front of her, only inches from her body.
"Justin
I'm so
sorry for pushing you away and I'm sorry that it took Mitchell to cheat on me to realize that you were the one that cared for me." She said quietly almost audible.
He placed his index finger to her lips to silence her. "Shh
you have no reason to say your sorry." He said softly and captured her lips with his. Melanie felt herself being lifted up in the air as her lips touched his. He wrapped his arms around her waist as she draped her arms over his broad shoulders. They pulled away to catch their breath. "I want to tell you something." He whispered.
"Hmmm?" Melanie was still in a trance from his kiss, but heard him fully.
"I love you." He admitted.
Melanie looked into his eyes and smiled. "I love you, too." She whispered and kissed him again.
"WOO-HOO!" cheers came from behind them in the house. Melanie and Justin pulled away and looked to see her father and mother spying on them. Marion pulled her husband away from the window as Melanie and Justin laughed.
"So much for privacy." She giggled. Justin laughed and brushed back a strand of her auburn hair behind her ear. He leaned in to whisper something to her, but instead blowing lightly in her ear. A moan escaped her lips, making her want him more and more every second. "Let's get out of here." She whispered.
"Okay, I have just the place to go." He said and took her hand, leading her to his car. They drove for a while until they reached their spot. The beach. "I knew you would like to come here." He smiled as he saw the expression on her face. "Come on." He took her hand and walked down to the beach.
"I love this place." She whispered. Justin wrapped his arms around her waist as they sat down in the sand. Melanie cuddled next to his warm body and savored this moment for as long she could. All her confusions and pain were washed away from the waves. Justin holding her, like he was protecting her made all her dreams be fulfilled. |
