**+Chapter+5+**

Melanie placed her backpack on her desk and flopped down on her bed. Tears of frustration streamed down her cheeks onto her pillow. 'Finally it's the weekend and I can try and think. Maybe I can actually come to a solution to these confused thoughts I have about Justin and Mitchell.' She thought to her herself. She sat up on her bed and picked her phone up to call Jessica.

"Hello?"

"Hey, Jess." She sighed. "What are you doing?"

"Nothing. Why?" she asked.

"Do you want to spend the night? We haven't done that in a long time." Melanie realized.

"Yeah sure, I'll be over in a few." She said and hung up. Melanie placed the receiver back in its cradle and smiled. 'Jessica was always good about helping me with my problems.' She realized. The phone rang, making her jump.

"Hello?"

"Hey um…Melanie." The unfamiliar voice said into the phone.

"Who is this?" she asked, creasing her brow in confusion.

"This is JC…you know JC Chasez from NSYNC." He laughed.

"OH YEAH!" she exclaimed. "What's up?"

"Nothing, just wondering what you were up to since the last time we talked."

"Just trying to deal with my busy teenage life the best way I can." She sighed, thinking about Justin. "How's Justin? Oh wait…forget I asked."

"Why?"

"Because I am trying to forget about him and I can't…its so hard JC." she sighed.

"Do you want to talk about it?" he asked, allowing to give her advice and support. "I can come over if you want. Me and Lance were kind of bored anyway."

"Yeah sure…I see how it is. You wait until you're bored to call me." She smirked. "But yeah you can come over. My friend, Jessica will be over too. But don't worry, she won't hurt, just maybe Lance." She laughed.

"Oh well I'll keep that a surprise for him to find out." JC laughed. "I'll see ya in a few minutes." He said and hung up. Melanie smiled as she rested the receiver in its cradle and went to go answer the door after it rang.

"So is she doing okay? Did she ask about me?" Justin pressed, sitting next to JC.

He sighed and clicked his cell phone off. "No, she didn't. Lance and me are going over to her house for a little while. Get some sleep, Curly and forget about her." he advised and left the room grabbed his jacket on the way out. He met up with Lance in the hotel hallway and they walked out to the car they rented.

"Hey I have some good news to tell you." Melanie smiled as she invited Jessica into the house. They walked into the living room.

"Well don't keep me waiting." She pressed. "What is it?"

"JC and Lance are coming over." She smiled.

Jessica's face lit up with a bright smiled. "Oh my god. I'm gonna get to meet Lance and JC?" Melanie nodded, smiling at her friend. "Oh my god! Oh my god! Oh my god!" she screamed, jumping up and down. The doorbell rang, interrupting her excitement. "That's them isn't it?"

"Yep." Melanie answered and got up to answer the door. Jessica sat nervously in the living room as she waited for Melanie and the guys to come in there. She immediately heard Lance's deep accent, and she sank into the couch. Melanie guided the two into the living room where the noticeable nervous Jessica was sitting. "Guys this is Jessica."

"Hi." She smiled shyly, especially at Lance. He smiled and took a seat next to her. "Um…so what brings you to visiting my friend?" she calmed a little.

"She invited us over because we were bored and she wanted to talk anyway." JC answered. He turned to Melanie. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I guess I needed some friends over to help me clear my mind." She realized. "Hey let's go get something to eat." She offered.

"Okay that sounds cool. I haven't ate today and I am hungry." Lance rubbed his stomach. Jessica laughed and followed Melanie out to her car. Lance and JC decided to take her car so that they were together and wouldn't get lost. Lance and Jessica were in the back seat while JC was in the front with Melanie.

"So as they seem to be in their own little conversation, do you want to talk about this Justin problem?" he asked, concern filling his blue eyes. She nodded, keeping her eyes on the road. "Is it true what Justin said about your boyfriend? That he only went out with you after you lost all the weight?"

"Yes it is." She sighed sadly.

"I am not going to say chose, but I think what you should do is think it through with pros and cons, and see which one would give you what and so on." He advised. "Coming from me…being Justin's best friend. I would have to say that he can have his days and other days he can be the most perfect person on this planet, because he is so kind and willing to make any girl happy. He has made A LOT of mistakes in the past with girls, giving his heart so willingly and it hurt him the most when they cheated on him or dumped him. He realizes that he has done that with you and I really don't want to see you or him hurt."

"I would never try to hurt him, but he is trying to break up my relationship with Mitchell. He's like determined for some strange reason to get me away from him, and I wish I knew what that was. I want to be friends with him, but he wants more then I can give at this moment. If I wasn't with Mitchell…I would drop everything I was doing and go for him, but I am dating Mitchell and I can't forget that." She replied.

"I know, but just remember that him being a guy and all…he might know what kind of trouble you are getting yourself into. He might see what might happen if you stay with Mitchell. I would say the same thing or maybe not, because I don't know Mitchell. Justin has this knack for knowing what kind of guy is right for a girl, but he makes that mistake with himself all the time." JC said. "He knows what to look for in a guy or girl for other people, but when it comes to him. He just closes up and forgets about that whole thing about him. It's scary, but real."

"So do you think I would cheat on him if I was going out with him?" she asked, glancing over him.

"No…not in a million years. For some strange reason, he acts totally different about you. It's like when your name is mentioned, he is in a totally different world from this one and he is oblivious to everything around him. He was so determined to make you happy those two days you went out together, and he would make sure you were happy all the time. Or at least try his best." JC smiled.

Melanie smiled more to herself and pulled into the parking lot of the pizza place. The four got out of the car and went into the restaurant, finding a table in a far corner. "This will do us good to get away from fans." Melanie said, as they slid into the booth and ordered their food.

"Let's play a game while we wait." Lance offered.

"Okay, what is it?" Jessica spoke up.

"It's a game where we each write down five questions, and shuffle them. We each pick one out of the pile and ask and answer." He instructed. "You guys game?" he looked at Melanie and JC, knowing that Jessica was already up to it.

"Okay, let's play." Melanie sighed and wrote down her five questions along with the others. They finished writing and put the napkins in a pile. Lance started shuffling them and picked one up, as so did Melanie, JC, and Jessica. "You first Lance." She said.

"Okay, what is the most annoying thing about yourself?" he asked, and looking at JC.

"Um…probably when I don't get enough sleep, I get cranky and act like a little five year old." He smiled.

Lance looked at Melanie. "I talk to myself and space off." She admitted.

He looked at Jessica. "I brag a lot." She admitted, blushing.

"Okay, I like to push people's buttons. Like one time I kept messing with the elevator doors making sure they wouldn't close…and it got on everyone's nerves." Lance laughed. Everyone laughed with him.

"Okay here's a question." Melanie spoke up. "What is something illegal you have done?"

"I accidentally punched an officer out and got arrested." JC admitted.

"I got caught speeding." Jessica spoke up.

"I got caught speeding, too." Lance answered.

"I stole a stop sign. I was dared to do it." Melanie laughed.

"Okay…not going to ask." JC laughed. "Here is one…how do you describe yourself?"

"I don't know…I think maybe quiet, reserved, funny at times, um…smart." Lance answered.

"I would have to say hyper, funny, outgoing, sweet, and smart." Melanie answered.

"Sleepy." JC laughed. "That's all I can think of."

"Yeah that's one way to describe yourself." Lance laughed. "How about you, Jessica?"

"Um…the same with Melanie. I'm hyper, sweet, a good singer, smart, and a very good listener and adviser." She answered.

"A little high of ourselves are we?" Melanie teased. Jessica punched her in the arm. "Well finally our dinner is here." She sighed as the waitress came with their food.

**+Chapter+6+**

After Melanie, Jessica, Lance, and JC were finished eating, Melanie took them back to her house so that JC and Lance could get their car. "Thanks for letting us hang out with you today, it was fun. Nice meeting you, Jessica." JC said getting out of the car.

"Nice meeting you, too." Lance said. "Did you want to come over to the hotel with us and hang out?"

"Sure." Melanie and Jessica said in unison. Jessica got into the front seat and looked at her friend. Melanie followed JC to the hotel and glanced over at Jessica. "What am I going to say to Justin?"

"I don't know. Just ignore him or something." Jessica advised. "To tell you the truth. If I were you, I would take him in my arms and apologize to him for pushing him away all this time." Melanie shook her head and laughed.

"No, I think I will go with the first one." They parked in the hotel parking lot, and Melanie looked up at the hotel and saw someone looking at her through a window. It was Justin. He quickly looked away after he realized that she saw him. She smiled and got out of the car. 'Or maybe I should go with the second offer.' She thought to herself. Jessica and Melanie followed Lance and JC to their hotel room.

"Welcome to our home away from home." JC laughed, inviting them into the presidential suite.

"You sure do get treated like royalty." Melanie observed. "This is a cool place."

"Thanks." A voice said from behind them. Melanie immediately knew who it was and smiled before she turned around.

"Hey." She sighed.

"Hey." He said in a melodramatic tone. "Where did you guys go?" he looked at JC. Looking at her just made him go crazy even more.

"We went to eat at a cool pizza place." He answered and flopped on the bed. "I am so tired." He yawned.

"You are always tired." Justin rolled his eyes. "How about we leave you alone." He offered.

"Yeah okay. I had fun today girls." He yawned and closed his eyes. "Goodnight."

"Goodnight, JC." Melanie laughed and left the room with Justin and Jessica. Lance, Joey, and Chris were in the main room playing N64. Jessica sat down with them and watched as Lance was getting beat up.

"Here let me show you how you beat them." She took the controller from Lance and started playing. "I have an older brother, and he taught me how to play."

Justin looked at Melanie and smiled. "How have you been?"

"I've been holding up, you?"

"The same here." He sighed.

"You know what…" they said in unison.

"You go first." Justin offered, smiling.

"Okay." She sighed. "Um…" she paused and looked over at Jessica. "Jess, let's go. My parents are going to worry where I am." She came up with an excuse. She looked back at Justin. "I'm sorry but I have to go."

"Okay, whatever." He mumbled and walked into his room, closing the door behind him.

Melanie felt bad for doing that but she needed time to think out what she was going to do. And she never knew that it was too late to try. "Come on Jessica." She said through clenched teeth. She dragged Jessica out of the hotel. "Thanks for having us over guys. Bye."

"Bye." Joey, Chris, and Lance said in unison, not looking up from their game. Melanie and Jessica walked out and drove back to Melanie's house.

"What was that for? I was having fun." Jessica whined.

"I needed to get out of there. I was being cornered by Justin and it tensed me up." Melanie admitted. "I am not getting the time that I need to figure this out if I'm around him."

"Whatever." Jessica mumbled. "Oh I almost forgot to tell you, but I am taking you to the Rave for your birthday."

"Oh ok." Melanie said. "Can I invite the guys to go with us?"

"Well yeah, I want to see Lance again. Even though he is too old for me I want to see him." Jessica laughed. Melanie laughed also and drove into her garage. They got out of the car and went up to her room.

"What should I wear?" Melanie went to her closet to decide on something to wear at the club.

"I don't know, wear something that will make you stand out from the crowd. You have the body to flaunt it so go ahead and do it." Jessica commented.

"Thanks Jess." Melanie smiled. "You have been my rock through all of this and I thank you so much for that."

"No prob, that's what friends are for." Jessica pulled her into a hug. "It's late so let's get some beauty sleep for the club tomorrow." She laughed.

"Yeah okay." Melanie nodded, and changed into her pajamas. Jessica did the same and they went to bed.
*~*
Melanie couldn't sleep the entire night, because of the dream she had about Justin and Mitchell. She dreamt that she broke up with Mitchell and wanted Justin back in her life, but found out that it was too late for her. He already found somebody. That scared her the most that if something like that happened, she would never forgive herself for pushing Justin away so may times. She wanted so badly to have him, but Mitchell was her first priority for some strange reason. Every time she thought about Justin, Mitchell popped up out of nowhere into her mind and made her think rationally. She wanted this to end and come to a decision. She never has had so much confusion and regrets in her life and it scared her.
