**+Chapter+3+**
Melanie made her way down the crowded hall of the school. She stopped at her locker and sighed as she heard Jessica's excited voice coming her way. She turned to greet her. "Hey Jes."
"Hey, so details...please." She pressed. "How was it? Were they as cool as they look? Are they cuter in person? What? Tell me, tell me."
"Okay, just chill." Melanie sighed and closed her locker. "It was the best thing that has ever happened to me...and I mean it." she smiled as she remembered the kiss with Justin. "Justin kissed me." She admitted and widened her eyes as she realized what she said.
"He what?" Jessica screamed. Everyone stopped and looked at the two girls. "I mean...he what?" she whispered. The students went back to what they were doing and Melanie rolled her eyes.
"I should've never told you." She admitted. "But yes he kissed me. He knows that I'm going out with Mitchell, but he insisted on kissing me anyway."
"Are you crazy? You are choosing Mitchell over Justin Timberlake? THE Justin Timberlake." Jessica exclaimed. "I mean come on, have some common sense here."
"Jes, please keep your voice down. There are ears in this hallway that can rat me off to Mitchell. I don't want that to happen." She said through clenched teeth. "You can come over to my house today, because I left your stuff there."
"Okay, are they going to be there?" Jessica wondered excitedly. "Cuz if they are, I am definitely coming."
Melanie laughed at her foolishness. "No, not that I know of, but maybe I can call them over to meet you." She laughed and went to her class.

At volleyball practice, Melanie's team mates came up to her. "You know that guy up there has been staring at you since we came to practice." Melanie looked up at the bleachers and widened her eyes as she noticed who it was. His long frame stretched out across the bleachers. His hair covered by a baby blue UNC ball cap and sunglasses over his eyes. She grunted and walked up to where he was sitting. He sat up and smiled.
"What are you doing here?" she asked, placing her hands on her hips.
"Well hello to you too." He smiled, taking his glasses off. "You don't seem too happy to see me."
"Maybe because when I'm around I lose control of myself." She admitted. "Oh my god, I just said that. Oh great...see what you do to me. I'm all honest around you...and that is not good." She began to ramble. Justin laughed and took hold of her shoulders.
"It's okay to be honest, you know?" he flashed his irresistible smile. "I came here because I wanted to say sorry for kissing you yesterday and...will you go back out with me tonight?"
"What? I can't, Justin. I am seeing someone and I am obligated to seeing just him." she countered. "And I remember the last time I went out with you...whoa." She shook him off her and backed away.
"Will you at least consider?" he looked at her with his pleading eyes.
Melanie sighed in defeat. "Let me think about it, and I will give you an answer after practice." She said and walked off. Justin smiled to himself and made himself comfortable on the bleachers.
"So who is that hot guy up there anyway?" Liz, one of Melanie's other friends asked. Her brow raised a bit as she observed Justin from a distance. "He has a nice body. You don't mind if I take him do you?"
"As a matter of fact...I do!" Melanie snapped. She pushed her friend back into formation to practice. Every once in a while, finding herself looking back at Justin. A smile playing on his lips every time their eyes met. 'Get him out of your mind...Mitchell, Mitchell, Mitchell. Remember? Boyfriend, brown spiky hair, brown eyes, soccer player, hottest guy in this school. Yeah that's him.' she scolded herself.
"SOMBKE!" Coach Williams shouted, blowing her whistle. Melanie stopped and ran over to her coach.
"Yes?" she rested her hands on her knees and leaned over a bit as she tried to catch her breath.
"Stop concentrating on that young man and get to it...we have a tournament coming up in 3 days. I want you and your team ready. Got it?" Coach Williams scolded.
"Yes Coach Williams, sorry about that." She huffed and went back to the court. Melanie glared at Justin and couldn't help but smile as their eyes met again, 'I got to stop this...NOW!' she told herself.
After practice, Justin came down the bleachers to meet up with Melanie. She was wiping away her sweat with a towel and taking a drink from her water bottle. "So have you decided yet?" he looked at her under his sunglasses.
"Yes..." she sighed, and sat down on the bench, taking off her kneepads. "I am going to say yes, because I am not a mean person, but under one condition."
"What?"
"No kissing and don't call it a date, because it isn't one. Just a friend thing...that's it. Deal?"
"Deal. Now how about we go?"
"Um one problem." She said. "I need to shower and get ready. I am a girl, you know?" she shrugged, and smiled innocently.
"Yeah, true you are." He laughed. "Come on, I'll take you home."
"I have my own car. How about you follow me to my house, 'cause I have to bring Jessica home with me so that she can pick up her stuff."
"Okay, I'll follow you then." He said, taking his keys out of his pocket. They walked out of the gym and out to the parking lot. "Which car is yours?"
"That one." She pointed to a baby blue BMW 3-series.
"You like baby blue, too?" he asked.
"Don't ask, it's a long story." She groaned. Jessica was already waiting by her car as she came up to it. Justin walked to his car and waited for Melanie to drive out so that he could follow her. Jessica looked at her strangely.
"Is that who I think it is?"
"Yes it is. He followed me here and insists that I go out another "friendly" outing with him." Melanie laughed, climbing into her car.
"Oh yay, here comes that conceited boyfriend of yours." Jessica groaned as Mitchell came running over to Melanie's car. She climbed out of the car and kissed him as he wrapped his arms around her waist.
"I've missed you. What have you been up to?"
"Nothing, just going home to do some homework." She lied. "I have to go now." She glanced over at Justin's car, and saw the jealousy take over his features. 'Oh just great...he's jealous now.' She let go of Mitchell and climbed into her car. "I will call you so that we can go out."
"How about tonight?" he pressed. "I don't have anything to do."
"But I do." She answered. "Can we take a rain check on that?"
"Yeah sure." He said sadly. "Call you babe." He kissed her once more and went over to his black Lincoln Navigator. Melanie sighed in relief and looked over at Jessica.
"What?" she asked frustrated. "He is my boyfriend, you know?"
"Yeah, he is, but like I said about this Justin thing. He seems to like you...a lot and you are going to throw that away for...Mitchell? Now this is something seriously wrong." Jessica countered.
Melanie sighed and drove to her house, Justin closely behind her. She pulled up into her garage and got out of the car. She went over to Justin's car and told him that he could come in with Jessica and her. He followed them into the house and up to her room. "Oh wait, you can't go in here." She stopped dead in her tracks as they came to her door. "I um have
women stuff all over the place." She lied.
"Oh come on, I have a mother you know." Justin pressed opening her bedroom door to see posters of himself all over her room. "Oh whoa...this is....wow." He whispered, observing the wall covered room of himself.
"Like I said...you shouldn't go in there." Melanie blushed, coming into the room. "I feel like some teenybopper now. What am I saying...I am...was."
"No, I think it's cute that you have these posters up of me. I'm very flattered." He smiled, taking a seat on her bed. "Just don't tell me if you have something that might scare me." He laughed a little.
"Well you remember my car?" she asked. He nodded and smiled. "I got that color, because it was your favorite." She blushed. Jessica was in the corner laughing hysterically.
"And I was there to see her buy it. Man was she stoked on getting that car." she laughed. Melanie felt her face burn at the way her friend was acting. Justin looked at her and smiled reassuringly.
"Forget about it." he said, mocking a mobster. "I think any girl would pick that color, and it suits you best anyway."
Jessica stopped laughing, and looked at Melanie. "I'll just get my stuff and leave you two alone." She said and grabbed her NSYNC memorabilia, and left the room. Justin looked at Melanie and laughed.
"So were you going to get ready or just stand there and gawk over me?" he smirked.
She shook her head and snapped out of her daze. "Sorry about that. Just make yourself comfortable while I get ready." She said and went through the door linked to her room, what seemed to be a bathroom. Justin sat and waited for her to get ready, his eyes wandering around the room and to the walls. He shook his head and laughed. 'Now I know what my fans room's look like.' He realized. |
