A unique, small stained-glass window uses a color transparency slide, 2 1/4"x 2 1/4" preferred. Take a picture of an actual stained-glass window or color a picture in a children's coloring book and phorograph that. When processed, cut out the area needed and mount within molding etc.
Make a small stained-glass arrangement and suspend it from chains in front of a window. This is the modern approach.
Construct venetian blinds with thinly cut balsa wood 1/32" thick or use index card.
Open lacework with a large pattern can be gesso painted, sprayed black, stiffened with hairspray and used for ironwork outside of window.
Stained-Glass Window
1. Using 1/8" balsa, cut strips to suffincient lengths to border glass window as a frame; or use commercial window frame molding. Create a pattern, outline design in black acrylic paint.
2. Fill in areas with color, using special glass stain paint, available at crafts stores. Colored transparent inks can also be used, or permanent marking pens which give a limted color selection.
Note: If used in a shadowbox a greeting card landscape can be placed on the back to give an outside view.
