He served as an orderly to the Quarter Master at Winchester VA from Dec 30 1864 thru April 1865. He was in the same Company and Regiment as his brother Charles. Based on his ages at enlistment and muster out, Joseph was born in between June 17 and Oct 11 1838. The "History of the Seventeenth Cavalry" shows the Muster Out date as August 7, 1865 from Co. H, 2nd Reg. Pro. Cav. |
