PLOT

James Bond faces Elektra King, the daughter of a murdered oil tycoon whom Bond is assigned to protect and the villain Renard, who has a bullet lodged in his brain rendering him unable to feel pain.

BACKGROUND

James Bond conquered the November 19th U.S. weekend box office. The World Is Not Enough opened at Number 1 across North American theaters, earning $35.5 million for the Friday-to-Sunday period. This was the best-ever opening in the history of 007.
The U.K. opening took in $9.93 million, the fourth-biggest box-office gross in British history, behind Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace (1999).
It was also the 5th top U.S. opener of the entire year.
This was the final Bond film to feature Desmond Llewelyn as the gadget inventor, Q. The beloved actor died in a car crash on December 19th, 1999 in England at the age of 85.
