Sean Connery was born in Fountainbridge, Scotland on August 25, 1930.
Sean Connery was first actor to portray James Bond 007 in the movies.
Barry Norman actually can be considered to be the first James Bond. A presentation of Casino Royale aired on television in 1954 with Barry Norman as James Bond.
Sean Connery was a relatively unknown actor at the time when he was approched by the Bond producers. He portrayed James Bond in six "official" James Bond films from 1962 through 1971. He made one last appearance as James Bond in Never Say Never Again, in 1983.
He left the role of James Bond to pursue other acting avenues. Connery has also stated that he's angry about not getting what he considers his fair share of the revenue generated from his years as James Bond. He has said he appreciates what the original series has done for his career, despite his ill feelings about it.
Connery has continued to be successful in the film industry. He continues to play many varied roles in films.
Oddly enough, when Bond producer, Albert R. Broccoli died June 29th, 1996, Connery was the only Bond actor not present for the memorial. This is kinda sad if you ask me.
His latest film was, "Entrapment," which opened nation-wide April 30th, 1999. |
