PLOT
A key and access codes to a secret space weapons system named, "Goldeneye" has been stolen. Goldeneye has the capability of rendering any location on Earth completely defenseless by destroying everything in the area that has an electronic circuit.
BACKGROUND
Goldeneye marked the return of James Bond 007 after a five year absense due to a legal battle over distribution rights.
It starred a new actor as James Bond, replacing Timothy Dalton. His name, Pierce Brosnan. Brosnan was originally up for the Bond role back in 1986, but due to legal entanglements he had to finish his Remington Steele television contract.
It opened at number 1 at the box office with a weekend gross of $26.2 million. It ended up grossing over $350 million dollars worldwide making it the most successful James Bond film.
Goldeneye was the 6th highest grossing film released in 1995, despite a year-end release date.
