You Have to Try

This is the most recent song I've written. It's kind of a protest song, a call to arms to end the war in Iraq.

I’m too awake to close my eyes
I hear too well to ignore the cries
It’s not enough to just ask why
You have to try

It’s not too late to get it done,
Your problems find you
no matter where your run
So turn and face the biggest ones
You have to try

CHORUS:
There are no people in the streets,
Everyone’s been asleep,
Four thousand die, no one’s keeping their eye
on the ball
We’ve been distracted by everyday life
so wrapped up in our daily strife
That we can’t see the man holding the knife
At our throat

So turn around and face the wind
Together I know we can begin
to be the change that comes from within
You have to try.

It’s getting dark
I can’t see your hand
You were there when it all began
Have you given up or will you stand
You have to try

REPEAT CHORUS

I can’t wait on the world to change,
It won’t just happen
You’re left feeling
strange.
