Song of the World

I wrote this in that short-lived, optimistic, time following the collapse of the Berlin Wall, before everything fell to pieces in Eastern Europe. Now, I've breathed new life into it, or the emergence of Obama on the world stage has.

People everywhere,
there's a new world, new life
People everywhere,
there's a new world, new life (exploding the chains of the old)

Old man, look around,
your time, your time has come,The sun is shining,
and your day, your day is done--

BRIDGE
Dazed by a dream,
nations took back their names,
people took back their tongues
and love
took back the world

People everywhere,
there's a new world, new life We sing this song of life
People everywhere, we sing this song of love
there's a new world, new life we sing this song of peace
exploding the chains of the old peace to people everywhere
