This is the first song I ever recorded. It was recorded on two reel-to-reel recorders for the KGB Radio Homegrown album. Rhythym guitar was played by Chris Herpolshermer who supplied additional vocals. The voices were double-tracked and the bridge was written by another vocalist ( I forgot his name).I was inspired to write the song by the many Sunday mornings I spent in a Balboa Park filled with musicians, jugglers, magicians, palm readers and others.
The song was performed by PaperJack in Balboa Park on New Year's Day in 1991.
(Balboa Park is in San Diego, CA)
Balboa Park Sunday
And the minstrels play
and the ladies talk
of the lovely day
On a Balboa Park Sunday
And the lovers roll
on the hills of green
And the children laugh
to see such a scene
And the Spreckels plays
in the distance clear
And you turn to see
who called you, near
REFRAIN:
Balboa Park on a Sunday,
run in the sun and enjoy,
Live in the light, bright sunshine,
free in the wind and the sky
And the people sing and dance all day
til the starlight bright
steals the time away
And the sky departs
and leaves for space
And the music leaves
this enchanted place.HOME |
